12:24:43 <gjanssens> jralls: I saw your reply to mr. Phillips
12:24:44 <gjanssens> Well said
12:25:05 <gjanssens> The more I think of his proposal the less comfortable I'm with it
12:26:43 <jralls> gjanssens: Thanks. You were fortunate not to be one of the recipients of his first approach, where he picked a random bug and tried to induce Frank and me into rounding up crowdfunding as a personal inducement to work on the bug.
12:33:48 <gjanssens> jralls: I had seen his comments on these bugs as well
12:33:50 <jralls> Interestingly after I copied my list on the reply cstim replied expressing interest. Archived at https://www.mail-archive.com/gnucash-devel@gnucash.org/msg36832.html.
12:34:26 <gjanssens> "my reply on the list" was probably what you meant :)
12:35:10 <gjanssens> The thing is I'm not at all against commercial backing, it's the way it's "offered"
12:35:15 <jralls> I meant "copied the list on my reply".
12:35:27 <gjanssens> Better even
12:36:00 <gjanssens> I don't see any investment so far in open source projects
12:36:20 <gjanssens> Such project works on building trust by showing your involvement and capability
12:36:25 <jralls> I'm not against commercial backing, but we have to figure out how to manage it and who's going to do the managing. I'm not at all interested in managing, as I said yesterday. Are you?
12:36:34 <gjanssens> There's neither from him
12:38:24 <gjanssens> His approach is more of an intrusion and my feeling is if we'd go ahead with such a project, it may destabilize the project rather than bringing it forward
12:38:41 <gjanssens> And no, I'm not looking for a management job right now either
12:38:41 *** Mechtilde has joined #gnucash
12:38:43 <jralls> Yeah, he comes across to me as a bit of a sleazeball. It probably doesn't help that I dealt with a lot of personal-services contractors when I was in the Navy and didn't care much for any of them. They were all primarily motivated by getting their slice of the pie and not so much in getting the project done.
12:40:31 <gjanssens> Right. That's not what we need at all.
12:41:33 <jralls> warlord: What about you? Interested in managing contractors in your copious free time?

17:35:18 <cyphase> hey, quick question. it seems like i can't denominate a liability account in a security i've added (other than the built-in currencies of course); is there any way around that?

21:08:18 <user> Hi. I'm receiving the error "No suitable backend was found for <file>." when I try to open my GNUCash file. The file is a SQLite3 DB. I can open it with the sqlite3 commandrecently switched from gentoo to ubuntu gnome 16.10.
21:08:38 <user> whoops. wasn't finished there.
21:09:02 <user> i can open the file with the SQLite3 command-line tool, so the file isn't corrupt.
21:09:25 <user> i created the file in gentoo with version 2.6.13
21:09:41 <user> and i'm trying to open it in ubuntu gnome 16.10 with the same version of gnucash
21:10:36 <user> the ubuntu version links against libsqlite3.so.0
21:11:34 <user> anyone have any idea what might be going on?
21:19:48 <user> found the solution: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnucash/+bug/1425691+bug/1425691
