05:00:58 <kjetilho> Simon: well, "required"... SPF breaks mail forwarding, DKIM doesn't. so it should be the prefered solution.

06:14:18 <Simon> I think DMARC is the other option, which breaks forwarding

06:45:48 <kjetilho> hmm, I need to read up on what DMARC actually does. also, I think Google requires reverse lookups, which may be more painful in the IPv6 context (e.g., privacy extension - but you want to turn that off anyway)

08:32:47 <warlord> Simon: yes, I know.
08:34:29 <warlord> Simon: the gnucash.org SPF record says MX. And the MX points to lists.gnucash.org -- which is a CNAME (yeah, I know, not supposed to do that) to code, which will have a AAAA record... Soon.
08:36:04 <warlord> The issue I was having before was not related to SPF or anything like that, but that my (new) v6 provider was blocking port 25.
08:36:27 <warlord> That issue has been fixed, but now I'm waiting for gnucash.org DNS to get updated before I turn it back on for code.
08:36:56 <warlord> I'll note that I had v6 working just fine on code in the past.. But my upstream provider changed and that change lost v6.

08:44:55 <warlord> kjetilho: SPF doesn't break mailman-style lists, only alias-file forwarding. For mailman it rewrites the sender so SPF (from the mailman domain) works. It DOES, however, break DKIM... and DMARC. which is why I had to change the lists to munge the From address on DMARC=fail domains.
08:47:41 <warlord> But that reminds me that I needed to update my other domain SPF records.
08:48:20 <warlord> Thanks for the reminder!!
08:49:28 <warlord> That could explain why Linas hasn't responded to me..
08:52:26 <warlord> Of course now I need to wait for any potential caches of previous SPF records to expire.
08:59:52 <warlord> Simon: it's odd -- I actually tested sending email to google last night and it did accept it; and I was able to reply back.. So it's unclear when google would block vs. not block. I'm fairly sure it went via v6 (although I admit I didn't verify the logs).. Oh, and the SPF was wrong.
