01:14:03 <gavsiu> what is the purpose of the "New Accounts Page"? I couldn't find anything about it
01:14:22 <gavsiu> it seems to duplicate the accounts page. I can rename pages, but they all show the same thing

14:13:16 <tux1c> hey guys, I'm having a little trouble with gnucash, my parents have set up a mutual fund for me from the day I was born and I just turned 18 not long ago so now I officially hold the fund I guess, I am trying to use gnucash to oversee my fund and it's growth/decrease over time
14:13:50 <tux1c> problem is that I'm not really sure how, I made a new account which uses a "stock" that I made up, and "bought" 1 such stock for the price of whatever I currently have in the fund
14:14:50 <tux1c> and I plan to edit the price whenever my fund increases/decreases, but I'm not sure on how to handle an event where I withdraw from the fund, for example:
14:15:49 <tux1c> my parents invested 50$, over time it became 100$, I want to withdraw 20$ and let the fund grow again, but I'm not sure how to do that since I don't know anything about the fund, only information I get is how much money is in it atm so I don't even know how to break it to stocks or whatever

14:20:58 <warlord> tux1c: that's a hard question. You could just treat it as an asset, not a stock. But then it wouldn't really handle changes in value solely due to changes in price.
14:21:46 <warlord> To deal with changes in value you would need to add transactions ... which may not reflect the real-world.
