09:19:07 <warlord> linux00001: that's a good question. GnuCash will only remove them for the *current* set of books, so if you have multiples it wont touch the others. Also, there is a preference to turn it off -- check in Edit -> Preferences and see what you have it set to?

16:25:41 <storri> I have a problem with the reconciliation on a checking account. The starting balance does not match the bank statement. I have been doing a lot of work to update other accounts. I would dislike having to rollback to a previous cached version. Is that the only option when a starting balance in the reconciliation does not match?
16:50:32 <storri> I am on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS. The configure script is looking for webkit-1.0. Which package will give me webkit-1.0?
17:01:32 <storri> Where will I find the code for the reconcilation function in the source?
17:08:48 <warlord> storri: if the starting balance does not match that means that you either deleted a reconciled transaction, or you changed it's value --- which you CAN do if you were modifying it from the "other side"
17:10:44 <storri> Other side meaning the other account?
17:11:35 <warlord> Yes. For example if you have a transaction from Checking -> Expenses:Groceries and then you reconcile checking, if you enter the Groceries expense account you can still change the amount, which will screw up your reconciled amount.
17:12:04 <storri> Is there a way to identify where the alteration was made? I guess not
17:12:22 <warlord> Not easily...
17:12:44 <warlord> You could go back through your .log files to try to figure it out, but there's no "show history of changes" UI function.
17:12:52 <warlord> and the .log file shows by GUID, not account name...
17:13:08 <storri> Alas. I figured out that I would have to go back to the beginning of the month.
17:13:26 <storri> If I want to not have to figure out where it was messed up.

17:15:16 <storri> On another topic, where is the most to date list of desired changes? I can either complain about a history feature not being present or I can do something constructive and see how I can help contribute to the project.
17:15:51 <warlord> Note to self: when changing the *value* of a transaction you should always pay attention to the other end of the transaction. Although one would defnitely question how the wrong amount got reconciled in the first place?
17:16:17 <warlord> Bugzilla and Uservoice. But complaining isn't going to help you much
17:16:29 <storri> I agree
17:17:10 <storri> I was wondering if there was a thought about staying with automake/autoconf or changing to another build system?
17:17:28 <warlord> There is some work to potentially migrate to cmake
17:17:44 <storri> I have experience with cmake.
17:18:57 <warlord> Part of the problem is getting "make check" to work with cmake on all platforms.
17:19:13 <warlord> jralls will know the current state better than I do
17:19:23 <storri> where is the list of the target platforms?
17:20:03 <storri> I have to go but I will pick up on this when I return. Perhaps jralls will be on when I get back.
17:20:26 <warlord> *nix, Mac, Windows
17:22:10 <storri> On windows are we using Visual Studio to compile or MingW?
17:22:25 <warlord> MinGW
17:23:19 <storri> In my experience when I enabled 'make check' for WIndows code and targeted VIsual Studio it would build the source and automatically run the tests.
17:23:36 <storri> I can play with this later. Note to self. Leave the house.
17:26:31 <warlord> Heh
17:26:49 <warlord> storri: as I said, jralls can give you a better current status report than I can

18:20:05 <jralls> storri: Cmake works but doesn't seem to run all of the Scheme tests. We're using cmake for the Windows nightly builds of master and I use it periodically for other builds, but the fact that it doesn't run all of the tests leads me to not rely on it.
