05:28:19 <gjanssens> jralls: gnc_book_get_option assumes "options" as parent kvp frame
05:29:10 <gjanssens> The counter_formats kvp frame however was not a child of that frame, it was an independent toplevel frame in the slots for the book object
05:29:24 <gjanssens> That's one part of why your change isn't working.
05:29:53 <gjanssens> Some parts of gnucash still assume the old kvp path
05:32:04 <gjanssens> So the obvious fix is to use the same path everywhere
05:32:20 <gjanssens> I'm not sure however which path would be best
05:32:40 <gjanssens> When I stick to the old path, users won't notice a thing when upgrading to 2.8.x
05:33:33 <gjanssens> But that would mean I need to use a different interface for the counter and counter_format slots compared to for example the Budget book option.
05:34:28 <gjanssens> Aligning this now would simplify the interface, but would also mean the old slots aren't found any more
05:35:24 <gjanssens> Or I'd need to write some conversion code and modify 2.6.x to be able to read the new slot as well...
05:35:56 <gjanssens> I haven't decided yet as the disadvantages of either option aren't too compelling
05:36:12 <gjanssens> If others have a strong preference, please speak up...
05:36:25 <gjanssens> (Or good motivations for one vs the other)

10:55:25 <jason> warlord: had an issue with laptop , hence why disappeared. I don't quite understand where to enter that. I am ultimately trying to get the fee into my expenses for tax purposes as finance charges.

11:47:58 <MycoGeo> in the process of converting from Quicken. I find stock accounts have many many entries to Equity:Retained Earnings with a price of '1'. Is there somewhere that explains what that's about?

12:23:12 <MycoGeo> oh dear. I've been accumulating quicken data since 1993. ... It's a large file. Let me see if I can make a subset sample that shows the result. On the other hand, I do wonder if I can just delete these entries. They seem weird to me, too.

14:50:43 <warlord> jralls: FYI, doing more research it's looking like I have some serious vmware i/o performance issues. My underlying disks, when accessed from the host, are reading a 71.8MB/s,whereas guest I/O is reportng more like 3.4MB/s. It's unclear if this is a RAM or a raw DiskI/O issue.
