05:32:00 <mib_arqena> hi everyone, quick gnucash question
05:34:01 <mib_arqena> I see all my accounts (parent and child) without indentations, although every screenshot of the accounts screen does have indentations, how can I fix this?
05:34:33 <mib_arqena> tried different gtk themes, doesn't work

08:25:13 <fell> Are you shure you created them as child accounts?

08:49:30 <mib_arqena> yes they are child accounts, the parents have arrows in front of them :-). I've always been changing background color manually to mark de difference
08:51:16 <mib_arqena> I just found it, can't believe i've been looking for this for over a year now and I just found it suddenly
08:53:07 <mib_arqena> i've had the 'account color' column set before the 'account name' column, which caused my problem
08:53:20 <mib_arqena> can't believe how simple it was
08:53:47 <mib_arqena> thanks anyway!
09:02:28 <mib_arqena> hmm, at least if he remembers my setting. after re-opening gnucash, he puts the column right back where I didn't want it

16:20:08 <illimitable1> Howdy.
16:20:54 <illimitable1> I want to know if there is a way to set up a transaction in Gnucash so that it does all the necessary parts of that transaction automagically-- a template, of sorts.
16:22:28 <illimitable1> When I make a sale (rent my airbnb), I pay to the person who cleans the place (accounts payable) and airbnb.com (expenses), and need to credit income.
16:23:25 <illimitable1> I'd like to be able to have this split transaction go through and post a bill for the cleaner, among other things.
16:23:35 <illimitable1> How can I automate things this way? Thank you.
16:25:44 <warlord> illimitable1: just use the same desciription and auto-complete?
16:26:46 <warlord> Your other option would be setting up a SX template, but I'm not sure how well that would work for you.
16:33:26 <illimitable1> SX template.
16:33:28 <illimitable1> Hmm.
16:34:18 <illimitable1> Documentation, please?
16:34:35 <warlord> Also note that GnuCash can evaluate expressions in real-time. So you could say: 102.34 * 0.12 to get gnucash to compute 12% of $102.34
16:34:48 <warlord> http://www.gnucash.org/ -- follow the links to the docs
16:35:37 <illimitable1> I just want to select a transaction from the menu, and imput the sale price. I want Gnucash to automagically populate the rest of the transaction.
16:36:07 <warlord> nope, no way to do that.
16:36:08 <illimitable1> Right, do you know where in those docs SX template information is? Google has not helped.
16:36:14 <illimitable1> What section of the user guide, perhaps?
16:36:23 <illimitable1> I thank you for your help.
16:36:26 <warlord> The SX section
16:37:24 <illimitable1> does a scheduled transaction (SX) have to have a certain date? does it have to be recurring?
16:37:39 <warlord> That's the part I dont know
16:44:38 *** fabior has quit IRC
16:47:52 <illimitable1> Thanks for the effort.
16:50:29 *** gjanssens has quit IRC
16:51:28 <jralls> illimitable: Yes, and SX has to have a certain date, but it doesn't have to have more than one occurrence. It also can't do anything with the business module, it only knows how to make transactions.
17:24:35 <illimitable1> Can I make such a thing (an SX), and then come back to change the date to today whenever I want to run it today?
17:25:21 <illimitable1> Another practical question: has anyone here ordered checks from a particular vendor, and had those checks work on the first try? If so, what checks/vendor?
17:39:54 <jralls> illimitable: Yes, you can setup an SX to run in the future and then change its date to today's and then run the Since Last Run dialog. Once.
17:41:13 <jralls> illimitable: A better approach for what you want to do would be to just make the transaction once (maybe you've already done it) and then use "Duplicate Transaction" from that transaction's context menu to make new ones as needed.
17:45:59 <illimitable1> The transaction involves multiple steps, so I don't know where a menu is that would do all the steps.
17:46:16 <illimitable1> It's not just in one register, even if I split it.
17:46:44 *** Apteryx has joined #gnucash
17:49:34 <jralls> illimitable: You mean you need multiple transactions to do what you need. Then you'd still need to duplicate them one at a time. GnuCash has no capability other than scheduled transactions for that, and SXes are designed for periodic repetition. They can't handle random occurrences.
18:24:29 <jesse> Hey all, I've added some new tests, gotten them working in CMake (super easy!), and now working in the vanilla make system. Problem I'm having is that the tests are creating a translog file when run and this makes distcheck fail. I'm not sure which part of the system is creating this translog, or what the best way is to suppress this output in test code. Any pointers?
18:33:18 <jesse> (or, more specifically, the logging is from qof_init(), but there seem to be several logging layers here, so i'm not sure which approach is best to disable the file output)

19:43:13 <jralls> jesse: The logging comes from Transaction. If your new tests do things to Transaction objects you'll get the logs. Rather than disabling the logging it's easier just to add the errant log files to the CLEAN target in the relevant Makefile.am. You can see an example at the end of src/engine/test/Makefile.am.

20:24:44 <jesse> jralls: Worked like a charm, thanks! Any equivalent I can do in the CMakeLists? I don't see anything in the engine/test stuff
20:26:23 <jralls> Dunno off the top of my head. codesmythe is the cmake guru. He hasn't set up dist or distcheck targets yet so probably didn't see it as a problem.
20:26:55 <jesse> fair enough
20:29:36 <jralls> So what tests did you add?
20:34:46 <jesse> added a few tests for the new code I'm adding re bug 739571
20:35:09 <jesse> been slow going since I just had another kid, but i'm about ready to submit a couple of patches

21:42:12 <codesmythe> Speaking of make dist, can I drop the inclusion of the generated .c and .h files from swig? I think there was some recent discussion about this but don't recall the conclusion.
