11:31:05 <alhirzel> version 2.6.10, I have a reproducable hang when inputting the following into the loan payoff calculator: 24 (blank) 800 50 0
11:31:11 <alhirzel> probably because it goes to infinity
11:31:25 <alhirzel> of course it's a typo
11:31:36 <alhirzel> (the best way to find bugs :) )
11:32:40 <alhirzel> I would fix it but I don't have a dev env set up for gnucash
11:32:59 <alhirzel> Thanks for a great application, and have a great day/night everyone

12:07:51 <bones9a> Hello, using windows10, gnucash 2.6.11, installed and setup and created first file. Decided it was not want I wanted as a file, and uninstalled via control panel, reinstalled gnucash 2.6.11, but same file keeps coming up and I want to start as if never used.

12:23:55 <linas> warlord jralls, etal: FYI - http://sockpuppet.org/blog/2015/01/15/against-dnssec/
12:24:20 <linas> also this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Let%27s_Encrypt
12:25:30 <Simon> linas: DNSSEC allows you to use DANE to secure both HTTPS and SMTP without a large number of commerical/government CAs who will do *anything* to cover up their own vulnerabilities
12:30:02 *** rubdos has joined #gnucash
12:32:13 <linas> Simon read this: https://www.imperialviolet.org/2015/01/17/notdane.html
12:33:31 <Simon> I already know his views on DANE
12:34:00 <linas> from what I can tell, the browser vendors will never support dane, and based on everything else I read, it just sounds like a huge mess
12:34:01 <Simon> DANE is the future for SMTP and XMPP, there are absolutely no practical alternatives
12:34:34 <bones9a> found this in registry in win10 - HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GSettings\org\gnucash\history\file0 and it was pointing to my prior file, since I wanted a clean start, I emptied (zero'ed out) and reinstalled gnucash and no complaining about the file... like a fresh install to some degree
12:35:32 <Simon> the Certificate Transparency point at the end is irrelevant - that's about holding CA owners to account, they can just as easily check that everyone sees the same TLSA records worldwide without a spam problem
12:35:42 <linas> Simon, if warlord tells me he needs dane to run the gnucash mailing lists, I'll set it up.
12:36:00 <linas> as to xmpp ... we're here in IRC, aren't we/
12:37:28 <linas> something more modern than irc would be nice, as long as its not that counfounded slack

13:43:12 <Cork> how would one best represent savings where you have locked capital that after x time will be returned with a defined interest?
13:43:49 <Cork> the only way i can figure is to create a separate account for each period
13:44:03 <Cork> but that becomes weird as you can't reuse the name in the duplicate accounts
13:52:07 <warlord> We're definitely not going to run XMPP for gnucash.org
13:52:31 <warlord> As for DANE for lists.gnucash.org -- we can consider it down the road. I see no reason to deploy it rght now.
13:55:47 <warlord> bones9a: just run File -> New File

19:12:29 <Apteryx> Hi there! I have a strange problem regarding reports. I added a USD income account to my GnuCash (otherwise purely CAD based) in last November and for some reason my networth for that month was reported as 0$.
19:13:08 <Apteryx> Things came back to normal in January.
19:19:50 <Apteryx> I'd like to be able to inspect why this could be. I'm thinking looking at the net worth report and trying to understand how things get computed from there.
