11:56:51 <jralls> gnomey: At present if you want to make a stand-alone script you need to use the Python bindings. Scheme doesn't expose the functions to start up a session because it assumes that you're scripting a running GnuCash instance.
12:00:27 <jralls> But I have no idea how to attach to that running GnuCash from a script that's not part of GnuCash.

12:09:58 <gnomey> jralls: ok, i appreciate the information. sounds like python is the only practical option
12:11:14 <jralls> I think so, at present. There was a request on the user list to add the API to Guile but I haven't done it yet.

12:54:08 <cmug> warlord: is there a guide how to do it?
12:59:00 <jralls> cmug: Yes, you can do online banking with GnuCash on OSX *if your bank supports it*. It works the same as online banking on any other system. There's a tool in the .dmg to install F::Q for you, you need to temporarily install it next to GnuCash.
13:03:15 <cmug> My bank does HBCI
13:03:27 <cmug> thanks jralls ill give it a try
13:04:07 <cmug> Finance quote updater
13:05:39 <cmug> I had it in my Applications previously, when I launch it nothing happens
13:06:40 <jralls> cmug: Any error messages in /Applications/Utilities/Console?
13:08:09 *** mlncn_ has quit IRC
13:09:22 <cmug> 06/12/15 19:09:11,164 sandboxd[138]: ([431]) tccd(431) deny mach-lookup com.apple.lsd.modifydb
13:10:20 <cmug> I see the sudo command for gnc-fq-update and then this error about denial for modifydb
13:10:37 <cmug> I am running 10.11.1
13:12:05 <jralls> cmug: Crap. Looks like SIP gets in the way of CPAN. See if you can run it manually. From Terminal, do
13:12:17 <jralls> sudo cpan install Finance::Quote
13:12:29 <jralls> sudo cpan install Date::Manip
13:12:49 <cmug> Finance::Quote is up to date (1.38).
13:12:59 <cmug> Date::Manip is up to date (6.52).
13:13:26 <jralls> OK, then it worked, regardless of the error. You're good to setup online banking.
13:13:31 <jralls> I've got to go now.
13:13:39 *** jralls is now known as jralls_afk
13:13:40 <cmug> ok thanks - I'll run the wizard
13:14:16 <cmug> actually I see a terminal window that I did not launch:
13:14:16 <cmug> sudo '/Applications/Gnucash.app/Contents/Resources/bin/gnc-fq-update'
13:14:16 <cmug> Reading '/Users/a4heinon/.cpan/Metadata' Database was generated on Sat, 05 Dec 2015 19:17:02 GMT
13:14:20 <cmug> Date::Manip is up to date (6.52).
13:14:22 <cmug> Finance::Quote is up to date (1.38).
13:17:12 <cmug> now GnuCash stopped launching "Checking Finance::Quote..."

13:44:11 <warlord> jralls_afk, gnomey --- at one point there WAS a command line option to start a scheme shell (or run some scheme commands). That was removed at some point (for some unknown-to-me reason)
13:46:02 <warlord> cmug: Ah, the slowdown was discussed on the list a few weeks ago; IIRC it's solved by installed another Perl package. I dont recall which package offhand

15:00:09 <cmug> warlord: thanks, I'll see if it becomes an issue
15:00:31 <warlord> cmug: You're probably looking at OFX. For HBCI ask your bank!
15:01:32 <cmug> True I just tried following some tutorial
15:01:57 <cmug> just/simply
15:04:23 *** MechtiIde has quit IRC
15:07:59 <warlord> You will need to find an HBCI tutorial; try the German wiki
15:09:41 <cmug> http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/AqBanking#Setting_up_a_HBCI_PIN.2FTAN_account seems relevant, albeit the commands don't work
15:10:04 <cmug> for example I have no 'aqhbci-tool' in my $PATH

16:02:12 <cmug> I installed aqbanking from Brew
16:10:21 <fell> I am no Mac user. So I do not know the differences between the different build system, but I believe it is somewhere documented in the wiki

18:18:44 <jralls> cmug: Your brew installation of aqbanking may be interfering with the one in Gnucash.app; it's at least superfluous. Gnucash.app includes aqbanking, you don't need anything external except F::Q, which you've already set up.
