04:28:53 <lastmikoi> Hello there.
04:30:02 <lastmikoi> I'm trying to set up scheduled transactions 5 years in advance (long-term saving plan), but it would seem that, no matter what I put in the "Create in advance" field, it gets capped to 731
04:30:18 <lastmikoi> Is this hard limit alterable from the settings ?

12:54:15 <gnomey> or expenses:tax?
12:54:35 *** CharlesIC has joined #gnucash
12:54:44 <CharlesIC> hello, how do i see a list of all invoices?
12:55:28 <gnomey> CharlesIC: the documentation says to search for ".", but that does not work.. at least, not for me
12:55:58 <gnomey> i search for "0", and so far i'm lucky to not have reached 100000 invoices yet
12:56:28 <CharlesIC> oh, you have to click * again
12:56:32 <CharlesIC> search for *
12:56:33 <CharlesIC> hit enter
12:56:34 <CharlesIC> then hit find
12:57:38 <gnomey> CharlesIC: that works for you? for me, "*" matches nothing
12:58:51 <gnomey> ah, i got it to work with dot (".") by changing criteria to regex
12:59:10 <CharlesIC> oh ok
13:01:50 <CharlesIC> thnanks
13:01:51 <CharlesIC> thanks

16:33:03 <azlev> Hi, all
16:33:44 *** autoditac__ has joined #gnucash
16:33:48 <azlev> I'm trying to import transactions from an account from multiple ofx files. But just the first worked. Can someone help me?

17:18:41 <jralls> azlev: What went wrong with the subsequent imports?

17:48:34 *** rubdos has joined #gnucash
18:00:06 <azlev> jralls: 0 records
18:00:55 <azlev> and if I edit the ofx, I can see the records
18:03:09 <jralls> aslev: Then you probably had a lot of transactions that looked like duplicates to the matcher. They would have appeared red in the matcher window, so you'd need to check the A box for each of them.
18:04:14 <azlev> the matcher doesnt show any record
18:05:26 <azlev> itÅ› the first time I'm using gnucash, so it can be my mistake
18:05:38 <azlev> I'm used to kmymoney
18:05:56 <azlev> but it doesnt play well in windows
18:10:10 <jralls> Well, GnuCash is a lot different from kmymoney (read the Tutorial and Concepts Guide) but that isn't what's making the OFX import fail. Each OFX dataset has a TRNUID file and the importer keeps track of which ones it has seen. That means that you can't re-run an OFX and it also means that if the different imports reuse the same TRNUID that only one will get imported.
18:11:00 <jralls> If the latter is what happened you can just edit each file and increment its number.
18:12:34 <azlev> let me check the ofx file
18:14:21 <jralls> Sorry, s/TRNUID file/TRNUID number/. The numbers must be different between files.
18:17:46 <azlev> they were the same, I edited and it dindt work yet
18:18:25 <azlev> how gnucash use bankid and acctid?
18:20:05 <azlev> I have those messages: http://paste.fedoraproject.org/295279/66372144
18:24:26 <jralls> I
18:25:45 <jralls> I don't know libofx's code so I can't interpret those info messages.
18:27:05 <azlev> ok
18:28:23 <jralls> Looking at the example data at http://www.ofx.net/OFXExamplesPage/OFXExamples.aspx, BANKID and ACCTID would be used for determining what root account -- you
18:29:10 <jralls> you'd set that once when you first import a file with that combo -- the transactions go to, and the matcher will help auto-select what the "other" account will be.
18:31:31 <jralls> Oh, I'm mistaken. Though I think TRNUID is significant, each individual transaction has an FITID that must also be different. Check your files for that. If the source is using a simple serialization in each file then that would explain your problem.
18:32:58 <jralls> The example data appears to use a date string (e.g. 980310) + a 3-digit serial number. The second transaction in the sample has 9803100001.
18:35:15 <azlev> all FITIDs are 0
18:35:31 <azlev> the first import worked, but others I need to change that
18:35:43 <jralls> That will do it. Where did the OFX files come from, kmymoney?
18:36:04 <azlev> my bank
18:36:31 <azlev> kmymoney doesnt use fitid I guess
18:36:47 <jralls> Huh. That's a surprise, I'd expect a bank to get the format right. Do they also export QIF?
18:37:13 <azlev> nope
18:37:39 <jralls> Bummer. Can you code? It will be a real PITA to change every FITID by hand.
18:41:31 <azlev> I can, but the user will be my mom, and thats the problem. And windows too
18:44:16 <azlev> damn damn state-owned banks :-(
18:45:03 <jralls> Well, you can write her a little utility that scans the file and creates an FITID from the date and a serial number. Unfortunately on Windows that means either writing it in a compiled language or installing a script language interpreter on her computer.
18:45:13 <azlev> other banks create the file correctly
18:45:26 <jralls> I guess VB would be the least work...
18:45:35 <azlev> powershell can do this
18:46:12 <jralls> Yes, but can you make a clickable utility with powershell?
18:47:41 <azlev> yes, I think
18:47:54 <azlev> like a clickable bash
18:51:39 <jralls> Well, that sounds like the easiest way, then.
