09:50:35 <Pavri> Hi there, I was using GnuCash version 2.4.12 (released on 31-3-2013) until yesterday. My laptop OS (vista) had a problem, because of which I had to uninstall it, and I reinstalled Windows 7

09:57:31 <warlord> Pavri: what file are you trying to File -> Open? It sounds like you're trying to load the .gcm (GnuCash Metadata) file, and not your .gnucash data file

10:16:00 <warlord> Pavri: no, it is not. Your data file would not be within the GnuCash program files. The gnucash-xea are the template hierarchies.. Your datafile also will not be in .gconf, .gconfd, .gnome2, .gnome2_private, or .gnucash directories.
