09:45:01 <P-G> So I've created two books for testing, one with the default account structure and the other empty so I can build my own. When I right click to add new account, however, some of the account types are missing.
09:45:23 <P-G> Income, Expense, Equity, and Trading account types.
09:46:00 <P-G> I think I created both books the same way except for the default account system checkbox.
09:46:23 <P-G> Have I missed something?
09:48:27 *** autoditac___ has quit IRC
09:51:19 <warlord> P-G: what account are you right-clicking on?
09:51:28 <warlord> The system will only let you create "compatible" accounts.
09:51:39 <warlord> So it sounds like you right-clicked on an Asset or Liability
09:51:40 *** mlncn_ has quit IRC
09:51:58 <P-G> Well, in the book with the default accounts I opened the edit window for Expense place-holder.
09:52:15 <P-G> In the empty book I just right clicked on the background and selected New Account.
09:53:09 <P-G> Is there a better way to create new account?
09:56:14 <warlord> Make sure you have "New Top-Level Account" selected
09:57:10 <P-G> Ok, I see. So it didn't deselect the other account.
09:57:39 <P-G> Yeah, that makes sense.
09:57:42 <P-G> Thanks. :)
09:57:50 <warlord> Yes, you need to tell it the parent
09:58:48 <P-G> It seems like it's not possible to deselect an account. You can select a different account but you can't remove account focus before right-clicking.
09:58:57 <warlord> Correct.
09:59:11 <P-G> Probably safer that way for entering numbers.
10:00:48 <warlord> Every account MUST have a parent account.
10:01:46 <P-G> Yeah, that part makes sense. I'm still getting used to the program though.
10:02:44 <P-G> I just got a popup about automatically saving every five minutes or with a user defined period of time. Can it automatically save when you exit?
10:04:56 <warlord> no
10:05:14 <P-G> But you can change the auto-save time?
10:05:29 <warlord> Yes.
10:06:05 <P-G> Edit > Preferences > ?
10:06:22 <P-G> Oh, found it.
10:07:50 <P-G> Looks like it does offer to save before exit with default timeout to yes. That should work.
10:09:21 <warlord> Oh, okay..
10:09:41 *** nomeata has quit IRC
10:09:57 <P-G> Just for worst case. :p
10:10:20 <warlord> well, it only helps if you exit normally
10:10:37 <warlord> it still wont help you if you logout, reboot, etc without shutting gnucash down cleanly
10:10:51 <P-G> Oh, that's right.
10:11:18 <P-G> Well, I'll just get this set up and test it for a while before worrying about that any more.
10:12:45 <warlord> "Save Early, Save Often"
10:12:58 <warlord> Just get in the habbit if clicking "save" after you enter your data.
10:13:35 <P-G> Is there a hotkey?
10:13:41 <warlord> Ctrl-S
10:13:53 <P-G> Nice. :D
10:14:14 <P-G> I already found the +/- for expanding accounts. Seems pretty intuitive.

10:18:33 <P-G> Is there a way to reorder sub-accounts within the same place-holder? Dragging doesn't seem to work.
10:19:24 <warlord> P-G: order is by Code then Alphabetic
10:20:01 <P-G> Oh, ok. That's interesting.
10:21:39 <P-G> I usually organise by the number of sub-directories with the larger place-holders at the bottom. That's just for readability but this might be fine too.

14:38:21 <warlord> jralls: sorry about the outage.. I'm getting a generator installed and they had the power out longer than my UPS could manage (which is strange -- I'm going to have to look into that at some point). So it caused code (and all the other VMs) to reboot.
14:57:24 *** autoditac__ has quit IRC
15:01:28 <jralls> warlord: I din't even notice an outage. I pushed Mechtilde's latest change a little more than a half hour ago with no problems.

15:33:28 <codesmythe> jralls: For gtk-osx, it looks like you recently removed freetype, fontconfig, etc as dependencies. It seems though that libgnomecanvas still wants pangoft2 unless I am missing something.
15:45:18 <jralls> codesmyth: Sort of. I changed things around so that pango-ft2 isn't built unless absolutely necessary, which as you say it is for libgnomecanvas. I had it set up to add the module in my .jhbuildrc-custom, which doesn't do any good for anyone else. I just pushed a commit that adds meta-gtk-osx-freetype as a dependency for libgnomecanvas, which gets it built in the right place.
15:45:40 <jralls> codesmyth: Good catch, thanks for telling me.
15:45:48 <codesmythe> awesome. thanks.
15:52:49 <codesmythe> jralls: Would you happen to have a patch for the gwenhywfar src/os/posix/directory.c (_NSGetExecutablePath) lying around. :-)
15:55:43 <jralls> codesmythe: Umm, no, I've not needed a patch for that. If I did it would be in the patches dir and applied automatically. What problem are you seeing?
15:56:36 <codesmythe> jralls: The same on mentioned here: https://mail.gnome.org/archives/gtk-osx-users-list/2015-April/msg00001.html
15:58:49 <jralls> codesmythe: Oh, yeah, that. I've just been doing it by hand. I guess I should find my round toit and make that patch along with three or four others I've been procrastinating on.
16:01:24 <codesmythe> jralls: I can do a PR on that one.
16:02:56 <jralls> codesmythe: OK, thanks.

16:35:48 <jralls> warlord: Ah, of course. We don't need AC here.
16:36:07 <jralls> But you sure do in Hotlanta.
16:48:36 <warlord> yes

19:15:45 <jralls> tanderson: Yeah, a bit disappointing. As long as your patch doesn't change anything by default it should be OK. Good luck, that seems to be based on really old code.
