00:37:05 <amrahd> Every time I try to set up my online banking, gnucash crashes. I'm hoping someone can help me...

01:49:05 <CDB-Man> hmm, the automatic retained earnings calc on the balance sheet, is there a way to see the breakdown? cause its not lining up with my income statement
01:58:01 <CDB-Man> aha, figured out the issue, my income statement period was set to end of year, so it was including in income a prescheduled transaction
01:58:10 <CDB-Man> whereas, my balance sheet date was set as today
01:58:53 <kimmo> :)
02:00:13 <CDB-Man> i thought for sure it had to be some faulty fx issue, so i had went and split almost all my accounts with FX into CAD and USD accounts
02:00:18 <CDB-Man> man that took forever
02:00:34 <CDB-Man> though the benefit of doing that of course is less messing with fx during transactions now!

04:07:31 <Vollstrecker> Hi guys. I had a crash last week and had to harddisk. All important data is on my fileserver, so no big problem (at first view). When I load the file for this year, it shows me last modified 01.04.2015. A short look into datadir shows me the newest file is: "Buchhaltung 2015.gnucash.20150401160036.gnucash.20150721112950.gnucash" and the according .log created 21.07.15. Is there a way to restore the work done
04:07:33 <Vollstrecker> so far?
04:12:56 <gjanssens> Vollstrecker: regarding the "odd" name of your file, see this faq: http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/FAQ#Q:_Why_is_my_file_name_getting_longer_and_longer.3F
04:13:33 <gjanssens> Does that file containt your most recent edits ?
04:14:31 <gjanssens> If so, open it and immediatly run a File->Save as... to rename it back to "Buchhaltung 2015.gnucash"
04:26:02 <Vollstrecker> The last one has been alsmost empty, but the log before had familiar looking entries. This ones worked. Thanks.
04:32:14 <kimmo> if gnucash crashes, just ls -ltr the dir and open the most recent big file

10:36:17 <moxbant> I'm trying to export a QFX from Quicken on my Mac. GnuCash doesn't show any transactions during the import step though. Where can I start debugging this?
10:39:46 <warlord> Are you sure Quicken is actually giving you an OFX/QFX file?
10:39:58 <warlord> (you mght be better off trying to get it to export QIF)
10:40:05 <warlord> Also, are you sure it's actually exporting any transactions?
10:41:04 <moxbant> The file is 2.4MB, so I'd assume it's got some data in it.
10:41:10 <moxbant> It's a binary file though.
10:41:14 <moxbant> :|
10:41:56 <moxbant> ooohhhh man
10:42:01 <moxbant> It's a .qxf
10:42:11 <moxbant> and last night my groggy brain didn't notice that
10:42:17 <moxbant> *sigh*
10:48:52 <warlord> yeah, gnucash cant read that

10:52:33 <moxbant> No problem. I don't expect so. I'll have to go back into Quicken tonight and look for export options again.
10:52:48 <moxbant> I transposed QFX and QXF in my brain lol
10:52:49 <warlord> good luck. look for QIF
10:52:55 <moxbant> Yea, will do. Thanks.

14:24:19 <gjanssens> warlord: it looks like we have a spammer subscribed to our gnucash-devel list
14:24:48 <gjanssens> Each time I send a mail to the list, I get a mail titled "Drogaria Onofre"
14:25:06 <gjanssens> It gets sent to the e-mail address I'm using uniquely for the gnucash lists
14:25:26 *** mlncn_ has quit IRC
14:25:45 <gjanssens> So it appears someone has subscribed to that list and is parsing the list mails to send spam directly to the correspondents
14:25:50 <gjanssens> Have you seen similar mails ?
14:26:02 <warlord> I have; I never correlated them to -devel mailings.
14:26:21 <gjanssens> Well it only struck me today as well
14:27:00 <gjanssens> You think there's something we/you can do about this ?
14:27:16 <warlord> Can you send me the mail headers?
14:27:30 <gjanssens> Sure
14:29:16 <warlord> I suppose I could send something to -devel myself ;)
14:29:33 <gjanssens> Sent to your ihtfp account
14:30:58 <warlord> perfect.
14:31:17 <warlord> And I sent something to -devel (response about docbook -> odt) so we'll see if I get something.
14:34:20 <warlord> Unfortunately there is nothing obvious
14:34:56 <warlord> Clearly someone harvested the email addresses.
14:35:16 <warlord> BUt it's unclear how, whether via being on the list or going through the mailman archives.
14:35:24 <gjanssens> That sucks
14:35:48 <warlord> Yeah, I know.
14:35:48 <warlord> Sorry.
14:40:31 <gjanssens> That's ok. I'll just have to blacklist the dude
14:41:30 <warlord> Yeah. Sorry.
14:41:39 <warlord> "Spam Happens"? :(
14:53:32 <gjanssens> True

23:43:24 <RestlessMind> quick question in case i am missing something, is there a way to auto increase the number in T-Number? I am wanting to show how many transactions I have made (Example Credit card), to better find discrepancies in my ledger. I am also wondering if this is something that I can do with Scheduled Transactions. Looking for the documentation on this if possible. Thank you!
23:44:29 <RestlessMind> (also) if that is not possible, did I miss something for Notes?
23:44:53 <RestlessMind> sorry - Notes/Memo*
