00:50:38 <wafflej0ck> okay figured it out
00:52:03 <wafflej0ck> for future reference, I had entered an invoice with a due date set far in the future because we are just getting incremental payments from the client but apparently the time range I pushed it out to caused an out-of-range error, I set it to end in 2017, so I unposted the invoice, changed the due date to two weeks from the start, re-posted it, then went back and re-assigned transactions as payments to that invoice cause it appea
00:52:03 <wafflej0ck> red they had been disassociated
00:52:23 <wafflej0ck> but now the reports work again
00:53:26 <wafflej0ck> and I have some idea of what guile and scheme are now and how to change the debug log levels on gnucash so, some lessons learned
00:57:55 <wafflej0ck> if anyone sees this and thinks they can help figure out what the problem is I'm willing to go back and debug this and try things out but I'm still too unfamiliar with scheme to really make sense of the aging.scm scod

11:36:29 <jeffsf1> Good morning — GnuCash Mac 2.6.5 (official build) — runs fine when the previously opened data file is there. When the volume that holds that file isn't mounted, GnuCash freezes at "Loading data…"
11:36:46 <jeffsf1> I've tried wiping with rm -rf ~/Library/Application\ Support/Gnucash/
11:37:00 <jeffsf1> and $ defaults read --app Gnucash
11:37:00 <jeffsf1> 2015-03-29 08:34:32.369 defaults[5299:790612]
11:37:01 <jeffsf1> The domain/default pair of (--app, Gnucash) does not exist
11:37:11 *** ErKa has joined #gnucash
11:37:22 <jeffsf1> Any suggestions as to how to get back to a "clean" start?
11:42:04 <jralls> jeffsf1: I've noticed on 10.10 that defaults read doesn't like --app Gnucash even if ~/Library/Preferences/org.gnucash.Gnucash exists, so try deleting that file explicity. Also make sure that ~/.gnucash from your local builds is out of the way.
11:45:09 <jeffsf1> OKl thanks
11:45:15 <jeffsf1> Yes, running 10.10 here
11:45:46 <jeffsf1> Just found open Library/Preferences/org.gnucash.Gnucash.plist — so that looks like it
11:46:42 <jeffsf1> (I build on a different account that I run with)
11:49:17 <Simon> jralls: is the 2.6.6 tag an accident?
11:49:41 <jralls> Simon: No, I'm preparing a release per the schedule.
11:50:55 <Simon> NEWS isn't updated
11:51:12 <jeffsf1> Bah — some strange voodoo lacking — looks like I need to open the one off the removable Volume, then close it, or something.
11:51:38 <Simon> oh it is...
11:51:58 <Simon> for some reason NEWS isn't up to date on master
11:52:31 <jralls> Simon: Yeah, I updated NEWS and all before I left Japan.
11:52:44 <Simon> oh, 2.6.6 isn't part of the history of master
11:53:59 <jeffsf1> Yep — even with all I found to delete, I had to open the data file off the external drive and close it within GnuCash. Apparently there was something sticky somewhere that I couldn't find.
11:54:04 <jralls> jeffsf1: I think you must have wedged something somewhere. When I try to open my account file without mounting its (encrypted) volume GC just tells me it can't find the file and goes to the no-file state.
11:55:23 <jeffsf1> Yeah, no idea what it was. Looking forward to the 2.6.6 build when it becomes available. For now I'm running from what's in Gnucash-Intel-2.6.5-6.dmg

12:16:18 <wafflej0ck> just a bit of feedback, ran the 2.6.6 build on Ubuntu 14.04 and all went well, so far no problems to report
12:16:53 <wafflej0ck> haven't checked out the changelog or any new features though just been doing the same old stuff so far
12:23:38 <Simon> how did you build it?
12:23:53 <jeffsf1> What platform?
12:24:10 <jeffsf1> Linux is pretty easy, I've never tried WIndows
12:24:16 <jeffsf1> Instructions on the GnuCash Wiki
12:25:58 <Simon> jralls: I think gncscmcachedir and gncscmmodcachedir should be in pkglibdir not pkgdatadir
12:26:19 <jralls> wafflej0ck: You're not supposed to be able to see the 2.6.6 directory. Did you build from the tag.
12:26:29 <Simon> datadir is defined as "The directory for installing idiosyncratic read-only architecture-independent data." by autoconf, and the cache is not architecture-independent
12:26:35 <jralls> Simon: Why?
12:26:47 <Simon> the cache files are architecture-specific
12:27:11 <Simon> they depend on endianness and integer size
12:27:55 <wafflej0ck> jralls, yeah I grabbed the tagged version
12:28:06 <Simon> (that and it appears to be quite awkward to get the debian build tools to exclude that one directory from the architecture-independent package)
12:29:53 <wafflej0ck> Simon, yeah not familiar enough with the build to really help but I'm on 64-bit Ubuntu 14.04 just followed the build instructions on the site, basically install dependencies, run ./autogen.sh, run ./configure with flags as desired, run make, run make install

13:47:52 <Simon> argh
13:48:16 <Simon> the gnucash package is built first and contains the ccache files
13:48:24 <Simon> then the gnucash-common package is built and contains the .scm files
13:48:36 <Simon> so the .scm files have a newer timestamp than the ccache files
13:50:42 <jralls> warlord: Looks like a bad version number for mingwrt. At least that got it working for my local build. But now your VM can't connect to github.com.

13:59:36 <Simon> you end up with a gnucash for i386 and a gnucash for amd64, and then the gnucash-common is taken from the i386 build so the timestamps don't match unless that build takes longer

16:10:35 <jralls_afk> Seems to be resolved, the build is running again. I think it will still fail, though, there are some mingw issues that I'm seeing on my local build.
16:15:38 <warlord> Maybe we should make the build server not depend on github, and instead give it direct read-only access to code?
16:17:50 <jralls_afk> warlord: I was thinking about that. I think it can already get to code for writing the logs. We'd just need to override the URL in custom.sh.
16:22:16 <warlord> it already has an ssh key, yes. we'd just need to give that key access to the gitolite repos and then change the URL(s)
16:29:47 <jralls_afk> We'd have to figure out a way to pass that custom setting to the tagged-build directory's gnucash-on-windows, though.
16:35:00 <gjanssens_> I believe the tagged build directory starts with a copy of the custom.sh file from the master build (in gcdev)
16:35:11 <gjanssens_> So it should have the proper overrides inherited.
16:35:36 <gjanssens_> And that's all I can add tonight as it's bedtime :)
