06:55:33 <fell> jralls: the first 3 paras of the german translation are still based on the first version of the chapter. :-(
07:00:11 <fell> I am not shure which version has more important information. IMHO the current english version has some redundancies and less historical knowledge.

10:24:51 <torbetron> Good day, just installed gnucash, was wondering how to re-order accounts. I chose default "business", but charts are in wrong order. Thanks.
10:26:22 <torbetron> I mean accounts are in wrong order. Would like Assets, Liabilities, Equity, Income, Expenses, in that order.

11:23:51 <warlord> torbetron: accounts are in Alphabetic Order. If you want to reorder then you need to use Account Codes and sort by code instead of "default:
11:33:50 *** himaxx has joined #gnucash
11:35:35 <torbetron> warlord: thank-you for responding. I found how to "edit account", and put an account code for each parent account. But, where do I find the "sort" command?

11:54:41 <jralls> @tell fell Yes, it's true that the English version is a bit sparse, but surely if a user is interested in the history of accounting they'll look elsewhere than our tutorial.
11:54:41 <gncbot> jralls: The operation succeeded.
11:58:11 <jralls> torbetron: On the right side of the accounts page headings is an arrow. Click that and pick account code from the list; that will add its column. Click on the heading for it either once or twice depending on whether you want the account codes sorted ascending or descending. If you don't want the account codes displayed, click the arrow at the right again and deselect account codes.

11:59:31 <jralls> @gjanssons: I rebuilt WebKit-1.2.7 with the current Gtk stack and compiler and it displays the javascript chart. Yay. But it also hangs on exit. Not so yay.
11:59:31 <gncbot> jralls: Error: "gjanssons:" is not a valid command.
11:59:44 <jralls> gjanssens: I rebuilt WebKit-1.2.7 with the current Gtk stack and compiler and it displays the javascript chart. Yay. But it also hangs on exit. Not so yay.
12:01:29 <torbetron> Brilliant, jralls!
12:02:06 <jralls> gjanssens: But at least I have symbols now, so I can debug WebKit. It's deadlocking on a Mutex.

12:27:05 <gjanssens> jralls: hmm that's good and not good
12:27:21 <gjanssens> Glad you managed to build with debug symbols
12:27:35 <gjanssens> But unfortunately you had to revert several revisions
12:28:05 <gjanssens> I had hoped the more recent one would help solve other issues like proper pagination
12:28:28 <gjanssens> But anyway the most important is to get a working Win32 build again
12:28:51 <gjanssens> (and I'm not even sure a more recent version would be required for the proper pagination anyway)
12:30:12 <gjanssens> I greatly appreciate your continued effort on this topic...
12:30:31 <gjanssens> I'm well aware that Win32 is your least preferred platform (like mine)
12:39:19 <jralls> Yeah, have I mentioned lately how much I hate developing on Windows?
12:41:32 <jralls> Anyway, 1.7.5 compiled OK with --enable debug. I'm just now starting an enable-debug build with webkit-1.2.7; the symbols without that have function names but no line numbers.

12:46:01 <kimmo2> jralls, windows is ok, putty is a magnificient IDE
12:46:28 <jralls> If I can get webkit-1.2.7 to work then we can do a release and get the win users a little happier. After that I'll see if 1.6.8, which is what I use on OSX, will work. It would be nice to have a somewhat more modern WebKit, though they're seriously out of control on dependencies. It would be really nice to have something a bit lighter weight.

12:54:06 <jralls> kimmo2: I'm an Emacs bigot. Emacs itself works OK, and I've found an OK terminal program. That's not the issue. Gcc's glacial slowness on Win32 is one issue, and the appallingly stupid way the Windows linker works is the other. Then there are the annoying UI differences, like having to click in a window or frame for the scroll wheel to work in that window, that are just annoying.
12:58:00 <jralls> Oh yeah, and the twice-a-week BSODs.
12:58:35 <jralls> Anyway, I've got to run an errand. Back in an hour or so.

22:10:07 <warlord> sfrique: FWIW, when I travel I always account for expenses in my home currency, even if it's in Cash or spent in another currency. It's just easier. I guess at the exchange rate and, if necessary, adjust the transaction "later" to reflect reality.
