04:01:49 <Unhammer> any norwegians here who know what "uttak" means in "omsetning eller uttak overstiger 50 000 kroner" ?
04:09:50 *** wol has quit IRC
04:29:28 <kimmo2> uttak is withdrawing
04:29:41 <kimmo2> ut tak, out take
04:33:37 <Unhammer> so is that purchases and such?
04:33:50 <Unhammer> "withdrawing" sounds so vague :/
04:39:33 <kimmo2> omsetning is deposits
04:39:44 <kimmo2> or sales
04:40:03 <kimmo2> so "sales or purchases exceed 50k nok" would be about right
04:42:44 <Unhammer> ah, so sales minus purchases =50
04:44:02 <Unhammer> would've they could just say "profits", but these accounting words always have such particular meanings :(

12:08:21 <Paul> I’m experiencing difficulty in reconciling my checking account using GnuCash 2.6.2 on OS X Mavericks. Everything works as in older versions except statement transaction (<STMTTRAN>) fields that contain the <CHECKNUM> (e.g. <CHECKNUM>6092) replace Date field in GnuCash with the <DTPOSTED> field in the OFX transactions file and also replace the Description field in GnuCash with the <NAME> field in the OFX transactions file. W
12:08:21 <Paul> importing the transaction file into GnuCash, all these transaction are colored green. I’m probably doing something wrong, but I’d like to know of a way to keep the originally entered date and description unchanged when reconciling these numbered checks. Can you give me some guidance? Thanks.
12:15:26 <warlord> Paul: dont use the importer to do that, then. The importer (AFAIK) will always overwrite existing data.
12:15:44 <warlord> (also your first line ended at "transactions file. W"
12:19:00 <Paul> Sorry about the missing text here’s the rest.

12:20:30 <Paul> None of the other transactions have their dates or descriptions overwritten.
12:41:53 <warlord> Sorry, I honestly don't know -- I don't use the importers.

12:57:27 <Paul> Thanks for the response. I think I’ll try editing out the <CHECKNUM> field from the OFX file and experiment with what happens. Meanwhile, it would be good to have the developers of the importer/reconcile portion of the program understand the issue. Thanks again. Paul
12:58:06 <warlord> Paul: would be nice, but the OFX importer developer hasn't been around in a while.

16:12:32 <lmat> When I build gnucash, the build process always uses
16:12:47 <lmat> the .so s from the build directory rather than the source tree.
16:12:56 <lmat> How do I prevent this (without make uninstall;ing)?
16:13:40 <warlord> lmat: make uninstall
16:13:48 <lmat> :( okay
16:13:54 <warlord> or move the install dir out of the way
16:14:20 <warlord> You ARE using a --prefix like /opt/gnucash, right?
16:16:23 <jralls> lmat: Don't you mean the distro-installed lib in /usr, not the "build" dir, which would be the location for an out-of-source build?
16:16:53 <lmat> warlord: I'm using --prefix, yes. Oh, you're saying I could use a different --prefix where the wrong .so s aren't there...
16:17:19 <lmat> jralls: The directory wasn't decided by the distro, and it's not in /usr, but it is the out-of-source build location.
16:17:40 <lmat> jralls: Oh, and the libs I'm talking about are gnucash shared objects.
16:17:56 <warlord> lmat: what --prefix are you using?
16:18:14 <lmat> warlord: --prefix /home/lmat/sources/builds
16:18:48 <jralls> If you're doing out-of-source builds in the build dir, then those are the libs you want. There shouldn't be any in the src dir.
16:18:58 <lmat> hmm

16:19:34 <lmat> jralls: After I make uninstall;, they're all removed from my prefix. Then, when I make; and make check;, the libs used for linking are those in the build directory (/home/lmat/sources/gnucash)
16:19:35 <jralls> You don't want to point the prefix at the build dir.
16:20:02 <jralls> Where are the sources?
16:20:11 <lmat> jralls: /home/lmat/sources/gnucash
16:20:24 <lmat> jralls: So, there's /home/lmat/sources/gnucash/.git, and /home/lmat/sources/gnucash/src/libqof, etc.
16:20:26 <warlord> lmat: what's the srcdir, builddir, and prefix?
16:20:26 <jralls> OK, then you're doing in-src builds
16:20:58 <kimmo2> SX-book.c: In function 'sxtg_book_begin':
16:20:58 <kimmo2> SX-book.c:121:5: error: implicit declaration of function 'qof_instance_set_dirty' [-Werror=implicit-function-declaration]
16:21:00 <kimmo2> :(
16:21:13 <lmat> warlord: If you're using technical terms, I only know the prefix (/home/lmat/sources/builds).
16:21:32 <jralls> warlord: He just said. srcdir=bulddir=/home/lmat/sources/gnucash and prefix=/home/lmat/sources/builds.
16:21:38 <lmat> warlord: Intuitively, I would say the srcdir is /home/lmat/sources/gnucash/src, and I don't know about builddir ^_^
16:21:55 <warlord> lmat: in what directory did you run "make"?
16:21:58 <lmat> kimmo2: What commit are you compiling?
16:22:04 <lmat> warlord: /home/lmat/sources/gnucash;
16:22:24 <jralls> kimmo2: Do a git pull. I fixed that yesterday.
16:23:07 <jralls> So that's in-source build. Yes, you need to make uninstall.
16:23:50 <kimmo2> ok thanks
16:24:22 <lmat> jralls: :( Thanks!
16:24:35 <kimmo2> error: The requested URL returned error: 403 Forbidden while accessing https://github.com/Gnucash/gnucash.git/info/refs
16:24:38 <kimmo2> eh? :o
16:24:48 <lmat> ouch
16:24:59 <kimmo2> never saw that one before
16:25:02 <lmat> I was able to fetch just now.
16:25:22 <warlord> kimmo2: try again?
16:26:07 <warlord> lmat: okay, so you are doing an in-src build. HOWEVER, autotools might be a little too smart in that it notices that your --prefix is along-side the src-/build-dir..
16:26:21 <warlord> try putting your --prefix in a different path.
16:26:31 <kimmo2> derek, weird, I usually don't retry with computers expectign a different result... ;)
16:26:38 <lmat> warlord: interesting, I can give that a go...
16:26:56 <kimmo2> hmm, does gnucash trunk == master always?
16:27:07 <jralls> kimmo2: When the net is involved it's not unusual for retries to work.
16:27:58 <kimmo2> when I see a 4xx, I usually don't retry...
16:28:04 <jralls> kimmo2: Trunk is only a convenience branch for folks who migrated their repos from the old svn-mirror one. Yes, it's the same as master.
16:28:29 <kimmo2> figures
16:28:47 <kimmo2> is the xml file format backwards compatible?
16:29:14 <jralls> To 2.2.9.
16:29:21 <kimmo2> cool
16:30:01 <kimmo2> if I add say a assoc_uri to a transaction, and open that file in 2.4, will 2.4 preserve that, or lose that?
16:30:20 <kimmo2> or any other 2.6 new feature subnode
16:31:20 <warlord> kimmo2: depends on which piece.
16:31:38 <warlord> certain pieces do render your data file non-openable on older versions
16:31:42 <warlord> e.g., credit notes
16:32:17 <kimmo2> hmm I really should get around to the code and start contributing
16:32:27 <kimmo2> I'm counting 15 years of contemplating
16:33:04 <kimmo2> I still remember being annoyed by the change of plotting engine from 1.4 to 1.6
16:33:05 <kimmo2> ;)
16:33:29 <warlord> LOL
16:33:32 <kimmo2> or was that from 1.2 to 1.4
16:34:06 <warlord> I think 1.4 to 1.6.. Guppi to GOffice. And yes, it was annoying and a major regression in functionality... But Guppi had been completely abandoned.
16:34:14 <kimmo2> heh
16:35:13 <kimmo2> I remember the line graphs tracking account balance, and really can't think why I missed them so much
16:35:43 <kimmo2> I think I need a new workstation, it's still compiling
16:36:46 <kimmo2> lemme guess, 2.6 has a new custom report interface?
16:37:24 <kimmo2> any change cost centers or dimensions got implemented?
