12:38:31 <adabo> Is there a simple way to transfer multiple transactions to another account? Currently all my transactions in Checking are transfered to the wrong Expense account. I need all of them to move to Grocery
12:39:40 <adabo> Basically a single action that moves everything at once.

12:43:12 <adabo> I'd rather not use the Delete>Move method either. There are some transactions I need to leave.

12:55:44 *** gjanssens_ is now known as gjanssens
12:56:18 <gjanssens> adabo: the Delete>Move method is the only one I know I'm afraid
12:57:16 <gjanssens> If the number of "correct" Groceries transactions is limited you may want to use this trick anyway and manually move the correct transactions back.

13:28:35 <adabo> gjanssens: That is true. What if they are all in the Unbalanced account? This one does not delete.
13:30:54 <warlord> adabo: you can delete the imbalance account and move all them to Groceries
13:31:57 <adabo> When I try to delete Imbalance, the Move to: section is empty and the Delete button is greyed out
13:41:34 <warlord> Hmm.. try renaming the acccount first and then deleting it?
13:51:23 <adabo> Possibly. But I started over already :( I figured I could do it quicker since I'm importing from QFX file my bank has. Only problem with the import is, again, it all goes to Unbalanced account.
13:51:51 <adabo> Frankly, double-clicking one by one to set to grocery is too long.
13:53:07 <warlord> adabo: then change the import to only import one or two, turn on bayesian matching, assign those 2 to the correct account, and gnucash can learn for the rest.
13:53:16 <warlord> this assumes they all have similar description/memo fields
13:53:31 <adabo> I like this
13:53:51 <adabo> warlord: Never thought of it. But I like it.
13:57:57 *** wol has joined #gnucash
14:06:10 <adabo> Woah... I tried importing a new file and it already guessed the stores I didn't even check in the previous ones as grocery stores. What sorcery is this?
14:14:58 <warlord> some of the tokens are the same. :)
14:15:03 *** wol has quit IRC
14:16:33 <adabo> Hmm, when I import another file and it has some of the same transactions in it, will it skip them?
14:17:59 <warlord> From the same account source? Yes

14:59:49 <adabo> Then I wish there was a way to uncheck all from the import wizard. I'm importing 100s of transactions. Using the bayesian matching I'd like to check just a few for gnucash to learn which transactions go to which accounts so that when I reimport the file, it will handle the 100s automatically.
15:02:57 <adabo> I really sound lazy...
15:07:45 <lmat> adabo: I don't think so. You should be able to unselect all... I'm not familiar with the functionality...
15:08:05 <lmat> adabo: Could you copy your gnucash file and do it there full-fledged, figure out what you want and start over with the original?
15:08:08 *** aqua___ has quit IRC
15:09:35 <adabo> lmat: Starting over is no trouble. I've got everything backed up.
15:12:15 <adabo> Here's a tip: If you don't mind working with CSV, what I did was exported all the transactions and used a text editor (Sublime 3 in my case) and use the replace functionality. Then import works great :)
15:13:01 <adabo> *For moving multiple transactions from one account to another

15:26:25 <warlord> adabo: break apart the QFX file into two.
15:39:19 <adabo> warlord: I thought of that, but didn't know the exact point where to break it at.
15:39:43 <adabo> I guess I could just make a copy of it and play around till I figure it out.

18:35:29 <adabo> Which account type should Interest and Escrow be under a Mortgage account? I have them as liability and the values are red. I think they should change it to an expense account, right?
18:36:00 <adabo> I mean, I'll keep it under the Mortgage parent, but make those 2 types expense.
18:36:06 <adabo> Make sense?
18:38:30 <adabo> Well, expense isn't a selectable account type for liability. I thought Escrow and Interest were growing values that the bank keeps. So why would Gnucash have them decreasing?
18:39:57 <adabo> I set them to Bank types, and they are now black. I guess that works.
18:40:34 <adabo> However, I left the Principal account as liability. It should be decreasing.
