04:39:31 <mike5301> hello, everyone. i've just upgraded to gnucash 2.6.1 and noticed that it now shows currency name in front of account total without spaces on dashboard and in reports. it makes numbers hard to read ("руб6,000.00"). i didn't find anything to turn it off in preferences. does someone know how to show numbers only?

05:11:19 <jimmio> I'm a newbie to accounting. Say I have a liability to someone of $20. When I add the liability, the funds come from Equity, correct? Then, if I make a payment on that, it comes from the Asset?

05:19:55 <mike5301> in future, when you take $20, you move from a liability account to an asset account. and when you give it back, you reverse the transaction. that's how it works for me

05:35:19 <mike5301> transactions should not be modified. you just add new transactions until it gets completely paid off and liability account gets zero balance
05:37:59 <mike5301> although, tracking partial payments of every single item in that way is a bit inconvenient when you have a lot of such items. maybe you should create subaccounts for such items, i dont know. maybe more experienced users can tell
