00:44:09 <Kael> Hi, I have a question. I started running into the "There was an error parsing the file" error this morning. I googled it, and everyone seems to talk about the "Opening Balances" bug, but I'm using gnucash on mac, and after checking my data file, it doesn't seem like any of the opening balance transactions are missing the data posted tag. Does anyone know of any similar bugs that might cause the error?

06:19:14 <mentalstring> hi everyone. there seems to be a problem with the OSX .dmg package with the latest release (2.6.2) - it's missing on sourceforge. anyone who can look into this?
06:31:02 <warlord> mentalstring: if it's missing then it may not yet be available. It's 3:30am where jralls is, so I suspect he's sleeping and wont be able to do anything for at least another 5 hours.
06:32:46 <mentalstring> just wanted to drop the note since the announcement mailing-list did mention the packages were available - i don't want to wake up anyone :)
06:33:41 <mentalstring> warlord: will he see this logs or should i shoot an email somewhere?

06:35:03 <gncbot> warlord: The operation succeeded.
06:35:28 <warlord> mentalstring: done, if he doesn't see the log when he next gets here then he'll see this message when he next does.

09:31:36 <Coderjoe> I'm having a weird issue. I can't seem to enter transactions with a date of 03/03/2014. It keeps changing it to 03/02/2014 (M/D/Y. 2.6.1 on Win7)
09:33:02 <Coderjoe> it also does it when I try to change the date of an existing transaction

09:37:40 <mkultra329> Is there a way to confirm if a bug has been reported? I'm noticing two issues- one may be a setting somewhere that I can't figure out and the other is most certainly a bug.
09:39:12 <mkultra329> The setting that I can't figure out (and maybe it is a bug) is what appears to be a timezone setting maybe? It is currently 3/3/2014 but I can't enter a transaction for this date. It is resetting to 3/2/2014 when I try to set it to 3/3/. Any ideas?

09:52:15 <mkultra329> I'm running 2.6.1. I just noticed that 2.6.2 is out so I'm going upgrade and see if that fixes it.
09:59:34 <mkultra329> That fixed the problem.
10:01:35 <warlord> Coderjoe: Upgrade to 2.6.2
10:02:19 <warlord> The issue is a DST bug which was fixed in 2.6.2
10:03:12 <warlord> (I dont know the bug# offhand)
10:03:32 <mkultra329> just verified that. And you may know, but in 2.6.1 whenever I added another account it would attempt to add it twice and on the 2nd add it would say it already exists. Definitely a bug.
10:07:01 <mkultra329> relatively easy workaround, though. Just cancel on the 2nd account add attempt.

10:44:52 <mkultra329> attempting to add an account and it goes through 2 add account sequences? That isn't a bug?

11:53:35 <jralls> Yessir!
11:53:35 <gncbot> jralls: Sent 5 hours and 18 minutes ago: <warlord> mentalstring can't find the OSX DMG for 2.6.2 on SF. Can you take a look?
11:53:47 <warlord> good afternoon
11:54:23 <jralls> SF was having a problem with serving just-uploaded files. Everything seems to be available now.
11:54:45 <warlord> okay.
11:54:46 <jralls> Except the PPC dmg, which I'm just finishing up and will upload in a few minutes.
11:55:08 <warlord> Are there any PPC machines newer than, oh 2010?
11:55:27 <jralls> More like 2006 IIRC.
11:56:04 <warlord> Do people still use PPC?
11:56:15 <warlord> (Is it worth your time to continue supporting it?)
11:57:52 <jralls> A few still use it. It's not a lot of added active time to build.
11:58:34 <jralls> The 2.6.1 PPC build had 103 downloads last week. I guess it's more than just a few.
12:05:04 <jralls> That said, if we follow cstim's advice to use C++11 on 2.7, I'll either have to drop PPC support or figure out how to get GCC 4.6 or later to build on it.
12:08:20 *** MechtiIde has joined #gnucash
12:09:56 <warlord> Okay..
12:10:07 <warlord> If you dont mind building it then I'm not going to push to drop it.
12:11:11 <warlord> I wonder if we should change the build scripts to build tag builds before the nightly/weekly builds instead of after?
12:12:35 <jralls> That would help a bit. Was code doing something else yesterday that slowed down the build? 14.5 hrs is almost a 50% slowdown from the last time.
12:13:38 <warlord> I honestly don't know. I wasn't around to check what it was doing and don't have load-average measurements.
12:14:47 <jralls> Oh well.
12:16:51 <warlord> Sorry. But we could change packaging/win32/daily_build.bat
12:18:30 <warlord> The trunk build finished at Mar 2 05:30. 2.6.2 finished at Mar 2 20:12
12:18:45 <warlord> It's almost as if the extra CPU I added to the VM is slowing the system down instead of speeding it up!
12:21:11 <jralls> Actually, 2.6.1 also took about 14 hours. 2.6.0 took only 9.5. IIRC you did the upgrade in December, before 2.6.0.

12:25:19 <warlord> Maybe the system needs a Defrag?
12:25:43 <Coderjoe> did you go from 1 to 2 cpus?
12:26:07 <warlord> Coderjoe: Yes, I reconfigured the VM to add RAM and an extra CPU
12:26:56 <jralls> How full is the disk?
12:27:22 <Coderjoe> My first guess would be disk IO contention between compiler instances.
12:28:48 <warlord> jralls: I dont know. I haven't logged in.
12:28:53 <Coderjoe> (my release build vm at work only has 1 CPU because some version of MSVS was tripping over itself and failing. I no longer remember what version, though)
12:29:14 <Coderjoe> (it was an intermittant failure, though)
12:29:22 <warlord> Coderjoe: this is gcc, not MSVS.. But I could drop the 2nd CPU
12:29:28 <warlord> (and leave the RAM)
12:29:30 <Coderjoe> oh
12:29:32 <warlord> and see if it improves the situation
12:30:06 <Coderjoe> any metrics on ram/cachemem usage?
12:30:06 <jralls> We could also pass -j1 to make, which would stop it trying to use both cores.
12:30:53 <warlord> Coderjoe: nothing remote; I'd have to do some contortions to get to the console right now.

13:00:34 <warlord> It might in terms of disk I/O
13:00:42 <jralls> I wonder if network speed might play a part, though. Most of Gnome is downloaded instead of built.
13:00:56 <warlord> It's only downloaded once.
