06:33:31 <stephan48> i got a mobile contract where an automatic "prepaid charge" is issued when the amount on the account falls under 10 euros, i know there could be 1 or 2 of such carges per month, is there a way to mark money as reserved for this?

07:41:47 <warlord> stephan48: create the transaction
08:18:14 <stephan48> my thought was to book 2 of such charges into a account and then book the charges from my telco into this account, if only 1 charge comes book the execess back at the end of the month
08:18:27 <stephan48> would this be a "propper" way?
08:18:45 <warlord> Define "proper". You should book transactions as they occur

12:59:34 <a> Hi people, the finance::quote is still not working. I re-installed the whole gnucash package in order to get the most recent version, but this did not work. Any help? I have seen a message at the gnucash bug site, saying that finance::quote version 1.18 works. But how do I know which version of finance::quote is installed in my version of gnucash?
13:05:28 <fell> a: No, you need F::Q 1.20 - yahoo changed the URL.
13:06:14 <fell> at the command prompt run gnc-fq-check to see the version.
13:27:44 *** hhn10 has joined #gnucash
13:28:32 <a> fell: thx for the hint. It gives 1.17
13:30:52 <a> I would be happy if there were a .deb package, usually I fail to install tarballs
13:30:53 <fell> perl -MCPAN -e shell
13:30:54 <fell> install Finance::Quote
13:31:46 <fell> if you are using linux, you can run sudo gnc-fq-update
13:32:21 <a> i am at squeeze
13:33:31 <a> wow - it worked - at least it installed something which was displayed as F Q 1.20
13:33:37 <a> will try it now
13:34:45 <a> nope --
13:35:07 <fell> which one?
13:35:20 <a> actually there was a lot of errors during the installation for example
13:35:22 <a> Make had returned bad status, install seems impossible
13:35:31 <a> ECOCODE/Finance-Quote-1.20.tar.gz : make NO
13:35:54 <a> (I was trying your first hint - with perl -MCPAN
13:36:53 <fell> You must be root
13:36:58 <a> ) sure
13:37:36 <a> am trying now gnc-fa-update
13:37:42 <a> fq sorry
13:38:15 <warlord> I'm sure Ubuntu has a f::q package, but it might not be updated to 1.20
13:39:00 <a> fell: it does not work Running make install Make had returned bad status, install seems impossible
13:39:34 <warlord> a: are you root?
13:39:40 <a> yes ))
13:39:50 <a> I am at debian squeeze
13:40:17 <warlord> I have no idea what version that is.
13:40:24 * warlord doesn't use DebUntu
13:40:36 <fell> I just run it on opensuse and had no problems with gnc-fq-update

13:41:33 <a> fell: I can try both your suggestions with Ubuntu 12 - it could work - just a moment
13:41:50 <fell> but there might be new dependencies, which are installed on my machine, but not on yours.
13:43:19 <fell> but they are defined in FQ 1.20 makefile
13:43:54 <a> will try on the ubuntu
13:44:01 <a> and be back in 5 min

13:58:06 <a> fell: thanks a lot! it worked in Ubuntu 12.04, namely the first version perl -MCPAN -e shell install Finance::Quote
13:58:26 <a> there was no errors and i could update the quotes
13:58:56 <fell> Fine!
13:59:31 <a> by the way, the first command perl -MCPAN -e shell seems to mean something like enlarging the sources.list, am I right?
14:04:04 *** Krzysiek_K has quit IRC
14:05:37 <a> it is interesting that in debian there is a module libfinance-yahooquote-perl
14:05:49 <fell> -E program like -e, but enables all optional features
14:05:55 <a> which I did not have before, but installing it does not help (with Debian Squeeze)
14:06:42 <fell> Eventually it was the update from 1.17->1.18
14:06:58 <a> I see
14:07:11 <fell> Yahoo is about yearly changing something
14:07:21 <a> by the way, I do not find the perl modules like File::Copy
14:07:41 <a> should I do the same manipulattion with perl -MCPAN?
14:09:05 <fell> you could also simply start cpan and check its options.
14:12:09 <a> I am using f::q less than one year, this explains why I did not have these problems yet )
14:13:26 <warlord> The problems only started last week.
14:13:33 <warlord> (when yahoo changed their site)
14:13:51 <a> thanks again fell!

17:13:28 <gjanssens> jralls: I have been looking into bug https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=724211
17:13:56 <gjanssens> I figured out why I get the GLib assert failure, but I'm unsure how to fix it correctly
17:14:05 <gjanssens> I've added my findings in the bug
17:14:42 *** aqua___ has joined #gnucash
17:15:17 <gjanssens> Since you recently rewrote most of the gnc-date code perhaps you can check if what I wrote makes any sense ?
17:15:48 <gjanssens> I know it's on Windows - our favourite platform... :(
17:16:39 <gjanssens> I suspect the bug as a whole has to do with some error in our timezone handling on Windows
17:16:54 <gjanssens> For me it's time to go for today.
17:17:17 *** gjanssens is now known as gjanssens_
17:17:18 <jralls> Hmm. I added that bit with the cached tz on monday, so it's not the source of 724211. I suggest commenting it out and testing again.
17:17:45 <gjanssens_> Agreed there's an older bug in there regarding the tz
17:17:59 <jralls> I'll take a look at the Win32 code and fix it so that it doesn't crash.
17:18:23 <gjanssens_> But current master will abort in an assert whenever you try to enter a date in the dst interval
17:18:35 <gjanssens_> That's new since your cached tz code
17:18:48 <gjanssens_> Since I was looking at that bug, I added it there as a side note
17:19:11 <gjanssens_> And most of the time so far went into figuring out why it asserted
17:19:20 <gjanssens_> I haven't gotten to the actual tz issue yet
17:19:52 <gjanssens_> But since the originally reported issue was/is on the day dst normally starts here, I'm pretty sure that will be related
