10:20:59 <mermi> I have several empty Invoice numbers because of my learning curve of GNU CASH. They show up when I open a job of invoices. Is there a way to remove them from the record to avoid further confusion? Thank you.
10:26:20 *** drew has joined #gnucash
10:27:56 <drew> Is there a know issue with the Income Statement report? I see inconsistencies between the General ledger report for an Asset account and the Income Statement associated with the Income and Expense accounts relating to the Asset account.
10:29:24 <warlord> mermi: you have two options: 1) mark them inactive, or (better) 2) re-use them the next time you need to create an invoice.
10:30:01 <warlord> drew: what version of gnucash? I know of no particular issues, although there may be some if you have multiple currencies. Do you?
10:30:43 <drew> The issue shows up in 2.4.10, 2.4.15 and 2.6.1 on Mac OS X Mavericks
10:31:11 <drew> It may be user error but I can't see what I'm doing wrong if it is
10:31:53 <drew> And no - no multiple currencies
10:32:45 <mermi> I will try to mark them inactive.
10:33:19 <warlord> mermi: Seriously, you're better off just re-using the invoices
10:33:37 <warlord> drew: what exactly is the issue you're seeing? It's unlikely that a real error would have lasted so long.
10:34:52 <mermi> OK. Can I reuse Invoice in a different Job name/number?\
10:36:32 *** jmd has joined #gnucash
10:37:30 <warlord> mermi: of course. Just open it and click on the "Edit" button to get to the dialog where you can re-assign all that
10:38:42 <mermi> Thank you/ reb68
10:41:25 <drew> The general ledger for the asset account shows all the transitions that exist in the Income and Expense accounts for the Asset and the net loss for the year is £2209.25. When I run the Income statement on those two income and expense accounts however, it tells me that the net loss for the period is £2425.75. If I total up the Debit and Credit columns in the general ledger report, then the ledger report matches the Expense
10:41:25 <drew> amount in the Income Statement, but not the Revenue amount - the Income statement is £216.50 short. I have looked through all the transactions in the Income account that are reported in the general ledger report and none of them look any different - just some of them are missing from the income statement.
10:42:37 <drew> (Sorry - transitions = transactions)
10:42:39 <warlord> drew: any chance you could print up some screen shots of what you're looking at and put them somewhere, like imagebin?
10:43:00 <drew> OK - Will do. Bear with me....
10:43:04 <warlord> No worries.
10:50:40 <drew> http://imagebin.org/292237 http://imagebin.org/292236 http://imagebin.org/292235

10:52:27 *** mermi has quit IRC
10:58:28 <warlord> drew: can you show your Clock Donations and Clock Automation account registers, too?
10:58:49 <drew> OK......
11:01:02 <warlord> drew: the reports you showed me are all adding up different things. The register and Transaction Report are for the same account and clearly show the same data. (although it does look like the report is missing £10 -- I compute 2219.25, not 2209.25)
11:03:05 <drew> http://imagebin.org/292242 http://imagebin.org/292241
11:05:44 *** linas has joined #gnucash
11:06:07 <warlord> The Income Statement definitely matches the contents of your Income and Expense accounts.
11:06:45 <warlord> And 5316-2890.35 == 2425.75 --- So your income statement *IS* correct.
11:07:56 <drew> Oh.. Just checking....
11:09:06 <warlord> Ah, and the transaction report *appears* wrong because it doesn't show you the 'opening balance'. The 'missing £10' is the first transaction, because the 2305.08 on Jan 13 is *after* the £10 is added in. So when you compute 2295.08-85.83 you get 2209.25
11:09:15 <warlord> So everything does match up.
11:09:28 <warlord> So where is the issue?
11:18:40 <drew> The general ledger report shows a transaction for £236.50 on 28th April but that transaction is missing from the Clock Donations Income account. I've just found out why - my fault. When that transaction was initially entered in the Cash account, I erroneously credited it to another income account. Many apologies for wasting your time. But thanks for helping.
11:21:23 <warlord> drew: you are welcome! this is why the reports exist :) Generally if there is sometihng wrong, it's erroneous input ;)

11:48:26 <warlord> mikee: well, I suppose it is correct if you set User = git in your .ssh/config
11:48:47 <mikee> I'll check it again.
11:49:21 <warlord> mikee: you should be able to "ssh git@code.gnucash.org info" to make sure it's working
11:49:57 <mikee> Permission denied (publickey,gssapi-keyex,gssapi-with-mic)
11:50:17 <mikee> It's the same public key yeas?
11:50:24 <warlord> It should be, yes.
11:51:49 <mikee> Mmm. No joy.
11:52:51 <warlord> mikee: try again: ssh -v git@code.gnucash.org info
11:53:55 <mikee> Works if I comment out .ssh/config
11:54:16 <warlord> what did you have in there?
11:54:37 <mikee> Host code.gnucash.org
11:54:43 <mikee> IdentityFile ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub
11:54:48 <mikee> User git
11:55:19 <mikee> As per the WIKI: http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Git#Committers
11:55:43 <warlord> Not sure you need to specify the IdentityFile
11:56:47 <mikee> git fetch upstream worked
11:56:59 <mikee> Need to try a push now.

17:21:23 <Ahmuck> bbiam
17:28:47 <warlord> Ahmuck: start with www.gnucash.org, wiki.gnucash.org/wiki, and the GnuCash documentation (The Tutorial and Concepts Guide is quite good)
17:40:57 <Ahmuck> been there
17:41:14 <Ahmuck> my problem is when i entered a beggining balance at 23.33 it shows 345.00 -
17:41:20 <Ahmuck> it's wierd
17:43:00 <warlord> Ahmuck: need more information. where did you enter the opening balance? What type of account? What currency? What account did you use at the xfer account for the O-B, and what is its currency?
17:43:11 <warlord> Oh, and *how* did you enter it?

19:59:57 <Ahmuck> Capital --> Opening Balances
20:00:04 <Ahmuck> I entered my checking accounts here
20:00:12 <Ahmuck> with opening balances
20:00:48 <Ahmuck> then added/deducted other accounts/items in Credit cards, bank fees, etc. then corrected all the dates
20:01:22 <Ahmuck> something else, my deposit does not list first before my withdrawels showing negative balances which does not match my statement
20:05:22 <Ahmuck> k, nm. i went to my parents house, came back and set back down to work on it and everything shows correctly. wierd
20:05:57 <Ahmuck> however, bieng able to post bank charges and deposits before withdrawals would be nice. is there a way to set the order of transactions that occur on the same day?
20:06:17 <Ahmuck> my bank always posts the deposits and bank charges first before the withdrawals
