02:48:58 <snarf> i have a loan which i keep track of in gnucash by having a liability account and having the balance of the loan in a bank account
02:49:32 <snarf> the lender and i have agreed that instead of paying the loan back directly to the lender, i should make a certain payment
02:50:12 <snarf> so the money from my bank account will be transferred to a third party
02:50:25 <snarf> i'm not sure of how to account for that in gnucash

03:27:04 <gjanssens> snarf: the core of your transaction still seems to be that you pay an amount of money that reduces your liability
03:27:37 <gjanssens> You could see this as if you pay the money back to the lender and he uses it to make that payment
03:27:54 <gjanssens> that is: what the money is actually used for is no relevant IMO
03:28:12 <gjanssens> I would simply record a transaction from your bank account to your liabilty
03:28:49 <gjanssens> You could use the description or memo field to mark that the money was used for a certain payment

22:03:44 <LoRdAcId> Has anyone had experience creating repeat monthly invoices in GnuCash?
22:04:26 <warlord> LoRdAcId: Use the Duplicate function. Beyond that, there's really no way to create repeating invoices. Sorry.
