12:47:27 <john> gjanssens: Geert, there are 5 bugs left on the roadmap. I think 712515 might already be fixed, I tried once to reproduce it and couldn't, so I'm going to try again today. If I can't, I'll take it off of the roadmap.
12:49:15 <john> I think the other 4 are yours: You said in 700343 that you know what to do, 719841 is a Guile2 crash, and the other 2 are documentation for your new credit notes and customer/vendor overview features.
12:53:42 <gjanssens> john: yes, we're pretty good I think
12:53:55 <gjanssens> I'm really happy with the bug triaging that went on the last couple of weeks
12:54:28 <john> Two and a half to go!
12:54:43 <gjanssens> I'll see if I can find some time for 712515. I thought I had noted this in my work as well
12:56:03 <gjanssens> The documentation bugs are not critical, but would be nice to have
12:56:50 <gjanssens> Robert Ratliff has started on one of them
12:56:57 <gjanssens> I was about to commit his work as we speak
12:57:35 <gjanssens> The other I may need to do. It's probably too complicated for an outsider to document what I did
12:58:43 <gjanssens> 700343 is nice to have, but not blocking. The report works but is hard to read if there are many data points
12:58:57 <gjanssens> The easy workaround is to set a much wider report width
12:59:26 <gjanssens> 719841 worries me most, though I haven't had much time to investigate it yet
12:59:29 <john> Ah, good. It would be *very* good to have those new features documented. There are a total of 45 doc bugs. We're not going to get most of them in the next 2 weeks, unfortunately.
13:00:07 <gjanssens> Yes, a pity but we're sorely lacking documentation writers
13:00:47 <john> I'll do 712515. ISTM 719841 should be your priority.
13:00:50 <gjanssens> On the bright side, our bugzilla reports less than a 1000 open bugs now.
13:01:13 <gjanssens> This hasn't been so for months
13:02:01 <john> I'll put something on the dev list in a minute to try and get some of the non-programmers to take a shot at the doc bugs. I wonder if DocBook scares them away.
13:03:22 <gjanssens> That's what I believe
13:03:32 <gjanssens> There have been several hints like that in the past
13:03:49 <gjanssens> BTW, are you proficient in automake stuff ?
13:04:11 <john> Still 10x more than there should be. OTOH, only 588 if you take out the enhancements, and only 312 if you only look at 2.4.x and newer.
13:04:30 <john> Yeah, I've got a pretty good handle on it.
13:04:51 <gjanssens> Because documentation bug https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=688579 is not really about documentation but about the build system
13:05:00 <gjanssens> perhaps that's an easy fix for you
13:05:28 <john> Should be. I'll have a look.

13:35:54 <gjanssens> ... aaaand we're down to 4 :)
13:35:59 <gjanssens> all for me though :(
13:36:32 <gjanssens> mike-afk: I was thinking about the business import features that are now enabled by default
13:36:59 <gjanssens> wouldn't it make more sense to bring all import related stuff together under the File->Import menu ?
13:37:20 <gjanssens> It's a bit odd IMO to have another import submenu in the business menu
13:37:34 <gjanssens> Users would have to remeber two locations
13:38:40 <john> I agree, though it's a bit late in the dev cycle for UI changes. OTOH, this should be pretty simple.
13:39:49 <gjanssens> Technically this is a matter of changing one .ui file, not even code
13:40:22 <gjanssens> It won't add new translatable strings
13:40:57 <john> Roger. It's probably not widely used, either.
13:40:59 <gjanssens> But the documentation would need to be updated as well
13:41:11 <gjanssens> Robert Ratliff did already document this in the help file
13:41:36 <gjanssens> The feature only got added in 2.5.8 or 2.5.9
13:41:59 <gjanssens> Before users had to manually enable it by copying files around and modifying the user.conf file
13:42:00 <john> That should be a copy-n-paste from the business-menu chapter to the file-menu one.
13:42:08 <gjanssens> Yep
13:42:19 <gjanssens> So I do think it's not widely used yet indeed
13:42:29 <john> Oh, if it's a recently-added feature, no problem.
13:44:18 <john> Brings to mind a question about Bug 705714, though. When you did the druid-to-assistant conversion, did you always use progress instead of content for the page types?
13:44:47 <john> The reason I ask is that progress totally blocks the assistant until it gets a completed signal.
13:45:10 <john> content leaves the 'back' and 'cancel' buttons enabled.
13:48:31 <gjanssens> That assistant was done by Robert Fewell

18:21:59 <fuzzybunny69y> hey guys
18:22:04 <fuzzybunny69y> is there anyway I can create a report in GNUCash that shows me my weekly expenses?
18:48:36 <john> Have you looked at the reports in Reports>Income & Expense?
18:49:28 <fell> and then adjust the report options.

22:02:04 <amjam> This is a totally random question, but has anyone here considered changing some of the language in the Tutorial and Concepts Guide to match CFA language? (e.g., the 5 fundamental types are called "elements" and not "accounts" in CFA literature).

23:34:54 <yj> Anyone on here?
23:36:21 <yj> Have a simple question. I have tried for a couple hours to figure out how to use GNUCASH to manage my tiny business. I have appliances and sell them.
23:37:24 <yj> when I buy the appliances they naturally go into the assets list Appliances. Then when I make a sell I put in the sale price of the item sold. It adds the amount to cash. But how can I remove the price of the asset from the Appliances assets?
23:37:40 <yj> right now it looks like I have WAAAAAY more assets than I do.
23:38:06 <yj> Any help is appreciated. I will leave the window open but may go to bed in a few moments if no response.
