15:47:36 <john> When I tried it on the date column just now, it was sorted newest at the top when ^ was showing and newest at the bottom when the down-pointing arrow was showing.

17:25:37 <warlord> john: Was going to ask how to revert a git merge, but I decided to just leave it as is even though it's a tiny bit messy in the history. (I should've done a --rebase, but didn't realize it until the 'git pull' already completed and I wasn't sure how to undo the pull)

17:27:58 <warlord> john: but it's too late now; I've already made a bunch more commits since then, including pushing back to my server repo. It's only a set of 3 commits that branch and merge back when they didn't need to. *shrugs*
17:30:00 <john> warlord: `git revert` creates a new change set which reverses the change that you pass to it. I don't think that's what you want to do. To back up a step, thus undoing the previous command, use `git reset --hard HEAD^`. You can add more ^s to go back further. If you've messed up a pull and want to rebase, you can run `git rebase` whenever, but it's usually rude if you've pushed and others have clones of what you're working on.
17:32:05 <john> In the event, I wouldn't worry about an extra merge or two in history. Git's very friendly about merging; it just looks a bit jarring to people with an SVN mindset where everything is linear.
