02:01:09 <[1]Dave> Hi I've just installed HydraIRC and joined this channel to ask for help on a GNUCash related issue I have. Can anyone help me please?
02:01:52 <[1]Dave> I don't even know if anyone can even see what I'm writing...
02:02:21 <[1]Dave> Is there anyone out there?
02:03:10 <[1]Dave> Maybe I have to click on a specific user???
02:03:19 <zotium> hi dave just post your question somebody might reply in a few days
02:05:13 <[1]Dave> Oh okay, thanks zotium.
02:05:56 <[1]Dave> I'll do that. Do I just post it by typing in here or is there some kind of way to leave it as a message?
02:07:49 <[1]Dave> Are you still there zotium? I don't want to bug you, just need to know how to leave my question properly when you have a moment.
02:11:07 <[1]Dave> Okay, I'll leave as best a description as I can here...
02:13:39 <[1]Dave> GNUCash/Postgres Server Issue - Line 1: I have PostGres 9.2 running on my Win 7 64-bit server, called DAVID-PC-PHEN2. It contains a database gnucash which was created by a local instance of GNUCash.
02:15:22 <[1]Dave> GNUCash/Postgres Server Issue - Line 2: I also have GNUCash installed on a workstation on the same local network, DAVID-LT-I7 also running Win 7 64-bit.
02:17:52 <[1]Dave> GNUCash/Postgres Server Issue - Line 3: In GNUCash on the workstation, I am trying to connect to the GNUCash Postgres database on the server. Can someone please advise how to do that? Thank you.

06:57:52 <daniel_> Hi. I was using Price Editor and now started using Trading Accounts. I've fixed all the multi currency txn to comply with Trading accounts. Should I delete all the prices from the Price Editor?

08:03:40 <warlord> daniel_: no, you still need them for some reports.
08:04:15 <warlord> [1]Dave: FYI, it's considered impolite to PM without asking first.
08:06:48 <warlord> [1]Dave: It sounds like a network firewall/postgres permission issue. You will need to do "standard sysadminny things" to allow the gnucash client to talk to the postgres server on the network. That is beyond the scope of this channel. If you don't know how to administer Postgres then you shouldn't be using it.
08:07:01 <warlord> The gnucash side is easy -- just point it to the postgres server.
08:07:13 <warlord> But keep in mind that even with Postgres, you can only have 1 person working at a time.

08:35:30 <daniel_> warlord: but i just need the last price only? should I safely remove the older price quotes?
08:35:59 <warlord> depends if you want historical data/reports. There is no harm in keeping it
08:39:41 <daniel_> for the Grand Total calculation, the last quote is used?
09:05:52 <warlord> maybe -- I'm not sure exactly how that is computed.

20:04:52 <Dave> Thanks Warlord, sorry I was impolite. What exactly is PM without asking first, as you mention above? I don't want to upset anyone in the future. I just don't know what I'm doing.

20:07:50 <Dave> Oh okay, I see. I did try to contact you yesterday, you're right. I'm so sorry. Thank you for you input, I'm just going through it now.
