09:09:38 <Bente> Hi - MS Money stopped downloading sharequotes and currencies on sept. 6. Now I must choose between MS Money Plus Sunset and Gnucash, so I would like to know whether Gnucash has this function??

10:15:43 <gour> 'afternoon
10:16:46 <gour> i've moved from linux to free(pc)bsd and migrated my GC data, but whenever i launch it, GC complains 'it cannot find default values'. how to get rid of it?

10:21:41 <warlord> gour: sounds like a bad gconf configuration
10:21:57 <warlord> check you .gconf.path ?
10:22:47 <gour> warlord: thanks...i cp-ed my old data and let GC to install waht he wants in home folder...now it seems to be ok
10:28:32 <warlord> great, glad it's all working now
10:29:29 * gour likes free/pc-bsd
10:30:36 <warlord> glad you like it. it's too non-mainstream for me
10:31:51 <gour> pc-bsd 9.1 (i use rc2) is huge improvement over 9.0...and PBI technology is really great
10:33:34 <gour> on the netbook i put lmde due to newer at icard not supported in *bsd
10:38:41 <warlord> Some of the tools I need to use don't work on BSD, AFAIK
10:39:34 <gour> for instance?
10:40:34 <warlord> VMware
10:41:08 <gour> it might be...usb-2.0 also does not work in vbox
10:41:19 <warlord> Not vbox. vmware
10:41:37 <gour> yeah, but vbox is another vm stuff
10:41:44 <gour> :-)
10:42:53 <warlord> Yes, I know, but it doesn't have the features I need.
10:43:00 <warlord> (like USB, for example)

15:35:28 <spm_Draget> Does saving to PostgreSQL or MySQL imply any sideeffects or limited functions when it comes to the data itself? I mean, is there something that could not be well-represented inside a database and saving it to XML gives more features?

15:54:39 <warlord> spm_Draget: there may be areas where data does not get saved properly. Those would be bugs, but the SQL code paths are significantly less well-tested
15:54:47 <warlord> but no, there shouldn't be any limitations.

19:46:24 <spm_Draget> The 'number' column is just for sorting inter-day transactions, correctly?
19:52:51 <warlord> or for Check Number
19:55:24 <spm_Draget> Okay.
20:01:23 <spm_Draget> But there are no other consequences… I can simply use it for sorting inter-day transactions…?
20:01:38 <warlord> yep.

20:22:17 <spm_Draget> I am importing a large ammount of transfers from my bank account. A few of these need a split-transaction. Is it a good way to book them to the default account (ger: Ausgleichskonto, eng: balance-account?) so after the import I can go to these and manually fill in the split-details?
20:22:31 <spm_Draget> Or is there a better way to do it?
20:28:38 <warlord> If the Imbalance account shows up, you are doing something wrong.
20:30:18 <warlord> anyways, gotta run

20:31:40 <spm_Draget> Well, I am importing transactions from my bankaccount. For example I play 250$ for my rent and electricity to my roomie who then finally pays the full ammount to the landlord. 200$ I pay for the rent, 50$ for electricity. But when importing, I cannot create a split-transaction directly. But it I would simply import and book it to rent, then this would be kind of wrong, I need to split it. But with lots of transacton to import, I
20:31:40 <spm_Draget> tought I put these to the imbalance account - and after importing correct each of them
20:31:42 <spm_Draget> Aww
