07:01:18 <YeOldHinnerk> Good morning
07:01:29 <YeOldHinnerk> I have a questions about scheduled transactions.
07:01:47 <YeOldHinnerk> I want to make some bigger changes to my accounts.
07:02:01 <YeOldHinnerk> In particular, I want to have some scheduled transactions
07:02:09 <YeOldHinnerk> and they should start in the past.
07:02:17 <YeOldHinnerk> however, this doesn't seem to work
07:02:30 <YeOldHinnerk> e.g.: I want an qutomatic transaction each month for my rent.
07:02:55 <YeOldHinnerk> beginning should be 1st of april
07:03:19 <YeOldHinnerk> but I always get the meassge, nothing to book.
07:03:37 <YeOldHinnerk> I made an earlier try, with the date of today and that was booked.
07:03:58 <YeOldHinnerk> but now that I changed the start and the day of month, it doesn't anymore
07:04:17 <YeOldHinnerk> any idea?
07:04:47 <YeOldHinnerk> is the particular scheduled transaction possibly somehow marked as "Nothing to do", since I made an earlier try with the date of today?
07:07:24 *** Jimraehl1 has left #gnucash
07:11:33 *** Jimraehl1 has joined #gnucash
07:23:04 <YeOldHinnerk> ok, figured it out.
07:23:31 <YeOldHinnerk> once the scheduled transaction was exectued, it is not checking if there was a change in frequency or something similar.
07:23:49 <YeOldHinnerk> I delete the entire trx and reenetered it with the correct values and it worked.
07:23:55 <YeOldHinnerk> thanks for listening :)
07:29:29 *** Jimraehl1 has quit IRC
07:31:39 <YeOldHinnerk> Is it somehow possible to conntect a scheduled transaction with a creditor/debitor, s.t. I can doubleclick on the trx somewhere and get the contact infromation?
08:19:49 <fell> Mahlzeit, YeOldHinnerk!
08:21:09 *** Jimraehl1 has joined #gnucash
08:22:10 <fell> No, because the business feature (A/P,A/R) uses additional fields, which are neiter by the normal user interfce nor by the SX editor available.
08:23:28 <fell> But you can use "normal" assets and liability accounts.
08:24:41 <YeOldHinnerk> ok
08:24:46 <YeOldHinnerk> othe rquestion:
08:25:00 <YeOldHinnerk> say I enter a scheduled transaction for an insurance contract.
08:25:07 <YeOldHinnerk> once a year the premium changes.
08:25:13 <YeOldHinnerk> what is the best approach?
08:25:33 <YeOldHinnerk> should I limit the scheduled transaction until the date of change?
08:25:55 <YeOldHinnerk> Will it "come back to life", if I change the booked amount then?
08:26:16 <YeOldHinnerk> Does it make a difference, if I change the amount only after the date it should have been scheduled?
08:26:30 <YeOldHinnerk> That is, say the premium changes from 150 to 180.
08:26:41 <YeOldHinnerk> The last 150 was paid in Nov. 2012
08:26:54 <YeOldHinnerk> The first 180 is paid in Dec 2012.
08:26:54 <fell> No, the SX should be active for the lifetime of your contract.
08:27:11 <YeOldHinnerk> ok, then I need to change it in advance, right?
08:30:21 <fell> Ok, if you now know, it will change the, you can "copy the SX" and adjust start date, ending date and rate, so nothing gets forgotten.
08:31:07 <YeOldHinnerk> And if I don't know it in advance, only THAT it will change?
08:31:33 <YeOldHinnerk> I actually like the approach with only one SX per contract better anyway.
08:31:36 <YeOldHinnerk> Cleaner :)
08:38:42 <fell> I would in the SX-Editor name e.g "<your description> (change at Dez 2012)" and activate the reminder.
08:39:21 <fell> Then you should know the new amount and adjust it.
08:43:13 <YeOldHinnerk> ok

10:45:14 <YeOldHinnerk> does anybody else also think, that gnucash's usability could be improved?
10:45:42 <YeOldHinnerk> I keep klicking in account to open Placeholders only to see an empty account
10:46:05 <YeOldHinnerk> and if I work for a while with a certain account and go back and forth i end up having the same account open several times.

11:56:39 <warlord> YeOldHinnerk: GnuCash shouldn't open the same account multiple times. But honestly I have no idea what you're talking about. First, why would you try to open a Placeholder? Second, what do you mean by "Go back and forth"?

16:50:56 <gcdoc> hi
16:51:32 <gcdoc> please help me... onli the question...
16:52:57 <gcdoc> tem como eu ter uma grande lista de itens e sempre que entrar no gnuc... ja ir para a data do dia... alguem sabe se tem como?
16:52:59 <gcdoc> ops
16:53:08 <gcdoc> I have to have a large list of items and where to enter the gnuc ... ja go to today's date ... Anyone know if you like?
17:00:58 <gcdoc> pleas
17:01:49 <warlord> Maxxed: There may be some test files in the sources, but generally no, there isn't really an "example" file with pseudo-real data. You could easily create one.
17:02:17 <warlord> gcdoc: sorry, I think there is a language issue; I don't understand your question/.
17:03:34 <Maxxed> warlord: thx! yeah i figured i would have to populate all my own data to play around
17:04:03 <warlord> Maxxed: It's pretty easy to run File -> New File to create a new file using some of the template hierarchies
17:04:18 <warlord> You would still need to fill in business Customer and Vendor information; there's really no good way to template that.
17:06:07 <Maxxed> got ya
17:06:15 <Maxxed> thx again man :) il poke around some more
17:07:31 <gcdoc> ok ... estou traduzindo do portugues pois estou no Brasil... Minha questão é a seguinte.
17:07:31 <gcdoc> Tenho muitas contas programadas até 2014, sendo assim sempre que eu abro a pagina da conta já vai para o final lá no ano de 2014, teria como eu abrir na data do dia?
17:07:41 <gcdoc> ok ... I'm translating from Portuguese because I'm in Brazil ... My question is this.
17:07:41 <gcdoc> I have many accounts scheduled until 2014, so whenever I open the page of the account will have to end there in 2014, would I open at the time of day?
