08:41:22 <gnuCash> or day for some...
08:43:01 <warlord> morning for others..
08:43:19 <gnuCash> :)
08:44:55 <homes> i think it would be really cool if the builtin report 'Income & Expense chart' had a varient that showed compound bars showing the breakdown like the 'Expense barchart' & 'Income barchart' does. really like gnucash btw, been a using it for a while now :)
08:46:57 <warlord> I'm not sure I understand what you're asking?
08:52:51 <homes> hmm, not sure if show stacked bars is the default or if i've turned it on, i'll make a picture showing what i mean
08:58:52 <warlord> please. it sounds like the Income & Expense barcharts are what you want..

09:04:04 <homes> if i could get that stacked bars functionality on the income & expense barchart like in the left two charts, that would be sweet
09:04:40 <warlord> Ah, I see..
09:08:03 <warlord> I don't think there's a way to do it from the UI, but if you edit the report code in scheme you might be able to change the type of graph.

10:14:39 <warlord> homes: Some of the bar charts are stacked. Some aren't. I don' t know why or which. But there is a ..."Use Stacked Bars" #t... in the code for some of them in net-barchart.scm. I don't know offhand which reports derive from this source.
10:15:16 *** Askarii has quit IRC
10:18:29 <warlord> For example, the "Income Barchart" is stacked. I don't know why the Income Expense Barchart is not, nor does it have an option. Maybe because it would be harder to compare Income, Expense, and Net if they were stacked.

14:55:02 <haksaw> Quick question, running GNUcash on windows, is there a way to add a shortcut for heavily used menu items?
14:55:07 *** ilisten has joined #gnucash
14:55:37 <haksaw> i.e. Process payment
14:59:24 <warlord> I'm pretty sure that Gtk provides a way to add menu shortcuts, even on Windows. However I don't know how to add those accelerators.
15:01:39 * haksaw googles
15:03:02 <haksaw> ok, so it would have to be compiled into the source?
15:03:37 <haksaw> *added to the source and compiled
15:04:09 <warlord> I don't think so..
15:04:15 <warlord> I'm pretty sure it's possible as a configuration.
15:06:49 <warlord> maybe something like ~/.gnucash/accelerator-map ?
15:07:12 <haksaw> It's in windows
15:09:13 <haksaw> I found a osx_accel_map

15:17:35 <haksaw> k, I appreciate the help
15:17:51 <haksaw> editing the osx_accel_map didnt work
15:32:25 <warlord> I wouldn't have expected that to help. But what about the accelerator-map?
15:36:06 <haksaw> file doenst exist
15:36:33 <haksaw> looking over the commits, looks like that might not be functional on windows

16:12:23 *** DimStar has joined #gnucash
16:12:25 <DimStar> good evening... I have some reports that the help system from within gnucash is not working (reported on openSUSE).
16:13:27 <DimStar> from what I see, one issue seems to be that gnucash launches yelp using help:///usr/share/gnome/[...]/gnucash-help.xml => something, which leads to odd things, as yelp (v 3.2 / 3.4) uses help:// for mallard documentation (having an index.page file for example)
16:14:18 <DimStar> additionally, the german doc seems to be even 'more' broken (does not even work on the gnucash.org website, see http://www.gnucash.org/docs/v2.4/de_DE/gnucash-help/help.html for the excessive long 'table list')
16:14:26 <DimStar> (the bug reference https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=771530)
16:15:13 <DimStar> one issue for the german helps seems to be external referenced files like Help_ch_GettingStarted.xml are not existing (in german.. they are in the 'C' language folder)
16:18:13 <DimStar> (using the gnucash-docs 2.4.1 tarball.. which was supposedly the last one... it seems svn would actually have the files, but they are not listed for distribution, thus make dist skipped them)
16:22:46 <fell> Dimstar: The german help is very incomplete.
16:33:02 *** haksaw has left #gnucash

16:46:04 *** Krzysiek_K has quit IRC

16:58:32 <fell> ... but it should not be broken.
17:00:42 <warlord> DimStar: the yelp issue is an OpenSuSE issue.
17:00:48 <warlord> Their version of yelp is broken.
17:00:59 <warlord> IIRC you need to add a symlink so it finds the documentation.
17:12:35 <fell> warlord: AFAIK Dominique is one of the package maintainers. :-)

17:26:51 *** Bodhi-Baum has quit IRC
17:37:22 *** aqua___ has quit IRC
17:46:33 <warlord> I'm not sure if it's a bug in the o.s. gnucash package or yelp package. But this has been a perpetual problem on opensuse for years.
17:48:57 *** Krzysiek_K has joined #gnucash
17:58:08 <fell> But if the calling convention/doc structure of yelp changed in v3, we should adjust our docs.
17:58:55 <warlord> It's never been an issue on any other platform/distro -- only on suse
18:03:34 *** ErKa has quit IRC
18:46:52 *** Krzysiek_K has quit IRC
18:51:51 <DimStar> warlord: found the issue and fixed it :)
18:52:23 <DimStar> yelp was fine.. the issue is/was a wrapper in front of it (gnome-help, which is actually a link to susehelp) which tries to interact with the DE-specific help system...
18:54:21 <DimStar> (and the fact that the 2.4.1 -docs tarball is missing files... added this patch and a svn export instead of the tarball https://build.opensuse.org/package/view_file?file=gnucash-docs-fixup.patch&package=gnucash-docs&project=home%3Adimstar%3Abranches%3AGNOME%3AApps&rev=8a57d6f5220e1440c64bd71c716656d9 )
18:55:36 <DimStar> so after a long time of having this issue, openSUSE 12.2, to be released in september, might actually have it all in place and deliver gnucash with working help :)
