08:16:41 *** warlord-afk is now known as warlord
08:16:56 <warlord> xnox: are you sure you meant to post that here? this is gnucash, not ubiquity
08:17:42 <xnox> lol =)
08:17:54 * xnox hates xchat!
08:18:05 <xnox> warlord: no wonder nobody replied! =)
08:18:35 <xnox> warlord: my ubiquity issue is sorted now, so just nevermind me =)
08:18:45 <warlord> xnox: okay.
08:19:16 <warlord> as for px`- and Fabzgy I hope you two are helping each other. Nobody else here speaks German
08:22:05 <Fabzgy> also wie gesagt - Split Buchungen gibt es
08:22:27 <Fabzgy> Wir benutzen die für unsere Vorsteuerabrechnung
08:24:26 <warlord> Fabzgy: again, no clue what you just said.
08:24:56 <Fabzgy> warlord: should I talk in px`- in a query or is it okay to continue here?
08:25:09 *** ricardobain has quit IRC
08:25:14 <Fabzgy> if noone else speaks german we could continue in a queri
08:25:17 <warlord> If it's gnucash related it's okay here.. But you might want to translate at the end
08:25:39 <Fabzgy> he basicly asks how he can divide / split transactions
08:26:04 <Fabzgy> If he has a receipt from the upermarket he wants to divide it into meat, cheese, etc
08:26:31 <warlord> Ah! A simple question.. :)
08:26:45 <warlord> Do you have the simple answer?
08:31:51 <Fabzgy> Well I told him to split his transactions
08:32:06 * Fabzgy actually does not know if px`- is male or female
08:32:48 <Fabzgy> But I did not find a good explanation for split transactions to forward
08:34:16 <warlord> px`-: Do you speak English? If so I can walk you through entering a Split transaction (even though a description exists in the English guide, too)
08:35:25 <px`-> sorry dont speak english. only a bit schoolenglish ;)
08:36:52 <warlord> px`-: :) Well, entering a Split transaction is easy enough. I'll try to explain it in English, and if you don't understand maybe Fabzgy can translate?
08:36:58 <Fabzgy> ok
08:37:45 <warlord> I presume you are running in Basic Transaction mode, where you see one line per transaction in your register.
08:38:08 <warlord> Start by entering the transaction normally. Date, Description (I would put the store name here).
08:38:31 <warlord> For the Transfer Account, enter one of your Expense account targets. Doesn't matter which one. E.g., Expenses:Food
08:39:11 <warlord> In the Withdrawal Column (I'm assuming a Bank account, but the same works for any other account) put the total amount for the transaction, e.g. €50
08:39:44 <warlord> Do NOT hit enter. Instead, click on the Split button in the toolbar. This will expand the transaction for you.
08:40:19 <warlord> Each line will be a Split. The total of all Splits must equal zero (or, more succinctly, the total of entries on the left and total of entries on the right must be the same).
08:40:30 <warlord> Generally you will only need to make entries on one side.
08:40:54 <warlord> Now, change the number in the line for Expenses:Food to what you really spent on Food.
08:41:18 <warlord> Then click the down arrow to exist that line (or you can use Tab to go off the end of the line -- your choice -- tab might be easier)
08:41:38 <warlord> It will now create a new Split for you to use, and fill in the remainder of the balance automatically.
08:42:16 <warlord> Put in the next Expense account, Expenses:Beer. And adjust the amount accordingly. Lather, Rinse, Repeat until you've used your total.
08:42:31 <warlord> Then at the end you can hit "Enter" to commit your transaction.
08:52:39 <px`-> Ok I'll test it later. Now I have to go pick up my son from day care and shopping.
08:53:03 <px`-> I'll call again later

15:50:02 <marco471> hallo: urgent and simple question>> is accrual based accounting possible in GnuCash?
15:51:10 <warlord> marco471: of course!
15:51:22 <warlord> In fact, the biz features are, by definition, accrual-based accounting.
15:53:30 *** Askarii has quit IRC
15:53:37 <fell> marco471: currently the GnuCash business features are accrual based only. Cash based account is currently not supported.
15:53:42 <marco471> thankyou warlord! how do I get this done on Invoices? I am not finding a way to get the revenue on a different date than payment!
15:54:08 <warlord> marco471: ??? The revenue gets posted on the date you post the invoice!
15:54:25 <warlord> How are you getting revenue on the payment date??
15:56:11 <marco471> when I pay an invoice it gets on the revenue account on the same date and not the posting date
15:56:25 <marco471> I use portuguese in Brazil
15:59:05 <marco471> what am I doing wrong?
15:59:54 <warlord> Probably using the wrong accounts. Process Payment would only go from A/R -> Bank. So I don't see how it's showing revenue.
16:00:06 <warlord> Posting an invoice is Income -> A/R
16:00:21 <warlord> Are you using the business features? (Business -> Customer -> New Invoice)
16:01:12 <marco471> Yes Business etc
16:01:20 *** ricardobain has joined #gnucash
16:01:39 <marco471> what do you mean by A/R?
16:02:42 <marco471> Account Receivaable OK
16:05:02 <marco471> I am paying future Invoices today as a test of posts I made today.
16:05:31 <marco471> This may be the problem. I will change dates to see if it remains
16:06:03 <warlord> Yes, that would be the problem
16:06:11 <warlord> (well, *a* problem)
16:06:21 <warlord> check your invoice posting date.
16:06:29 <marco471> ok thanks
16:06:36 <warlord> If it's posted today and then you process payment today, then yes, that would be your confusion.
16:08:40 <marco471> Im trying this possibility
