07:16:49 <GabrieleV> Hello, I'm running gnucash v2.4.7 under Ubuntu 11.10 with mysql backend. When I try to open and usesome of the Budget features, gnucash is painfully slow. Is this a known issue ? If I export my data to a .gnucash file, things works fine.

08:42:33 <warlord> GabrieleV: the SQL is definitely slower at everything except saving because it is doing more work than the xml. There have been no performance tests done to optimize it.

10:36:41 <mib_ji6wai> All transactions in ALL my catagories are not showing Jan - Nov 2011. Where have I turned off Show History? I Searched FAQ...can't find this problem. I just re-installed 2.4.10-1. Still didn't show UP.
10:39:45 <warlord> mib_ji6wai: perhaps did you at some point open a backup file and start storing data into a different file?
10:42:18 <mib_ji6wai> I just started using GnuCash. I downloaded a file from my bank into MS EXCEL, updated discriptions in each line (243 lines), then imported into Gnucash, choose checking account, seemed to go well, totals look correct, but can't see any of last years #'s.
10:42:46 <warlord> How are you looking?
10:42:54 <mib_ji6wai> Corrections, can't see each transaction I entered.
10:43:07 <warlord> What if you go to View -> Filter by... Date [all] ?
10:43:12 <mib_ji6wai> I only see Nov 2011, Dec 2011 and any test entry for this year.
10:43:39 <warlord> Are you sure it got imported into the account you think it should be in?
10:43:58 <warlord> Can you upload a screen shot to show what you're seeing? You can use imagebin
10:44:14 <mib_ji6wai> If I enter a transaction for 1/1/11 call it test for 100,000. The total changes but the date is not seen. The transaction is not seen. It is if I have turned off don't display last years entries.

10:45:21 <warlord> mib_ji6wai: there are a few things that it could be:
10:45:24 <warlord> 1) date limits
10:45:27 <warlord> (see above)
10:45:45 <warlord> 2) limit of the # of transactions. Edit -> Preferences -> Register...
10:46:03 <mib_ji6wai> I'll try screen shot.
10:46:08 <warlord> Sorry, -> Register Defaults
10:46:35 <mib_ji6wai> With Date limits you mean: Preferences/Accounting Preferences/Accounting Period/Start Date & End Date?
10:48:32 <warlord> No...
10:48:46 <mib_ji6wai> In Register Defaults I only have Basic Ledger button on.
10:48:46 <mib_ji6wai> No Reference to "limit of the # of ..."
10:48:47 <warlord> I mean exactly what I said before: View -> Filter by -> Date -> all
10:49:21 <warlord> mib_ji6wai: Edit -> Preferences -> register Dfaults -> Number of Txns
10:50:02 <mib_ji6wai> That sounds like what I should be looking for.
10:51:24 <mib_ji6wai> Got it.
10:51:42 <warlord> Was that number not '0'?
10:52:37 <mib_ji6wai> Do you find we(the public) have such simple troubles often or just sometimes? :)
10:53:48 <warlord> just sometimes. The default is '0' so you must've changed it yourself at some point.
10:53:59 <mib_ji6wai> No it was set to 5
10:54:00 <mib_ji6wai> Thank you.
10:54:00 <mib_ji6wai> It is often the simple things in life.
10:54:14 <mib_ji6wai> Don't answer that...let me "OFTEN". Have a great day.
10:54:29 <warlord> :)
10:54:32 <warlord> You're welcome.
10:57:03 <mib_ji6wai> I don't remember doing that, but I can't argue. It was set to 5. Thank you again.
