09:10:20 <lunk> good morning, i opened a 2.2(linux) set of files on a windows 2.4 installation, and now i can't open up the data in either system. How can I recover my data?
09:12:30 *** gour has quit IRC
09:37:51 <lunk> alrighty, well i was able to load the last .xac file from before i opened it up in 2.4
09:37:55 <lunk> thanks for your patience
09:54:21 <warlord> lunk: which 2.2 version on linux?
09:54:49 <warlord> 2.4.10 should be able to save back to xml that 2.2.9 can read.
09:55:00 <warlord> but honestly, why are you still on 2.2.x?
10:15:31 <lunk> old computer
10:15:50 <lunk> don't want to upgrade from ubuntu 10 to 11, hate the interface
10:19:54 <warlord> I'm pretty sure that 2.4.10 will build fine on UB10
10:21:24 <lunk> i tried that, it requires glibc of a greater version than i have installed
10:21:31 <lunk> by one, of course
10:30:14 <warlord> Hmm
10:31:39 *** Fabzgy has joined #gnucash
10:32:17 <warlord> there might be a different place to find a backport. Or you can try to build it yourself?
10:35:25 *** Jimraehl2 has quit IRC
10:42:21 <lunk> warlord: i was able to load the data, i'm going to 1, make a copy this time and 2, load it in 2.4 and immediately export to an xml format
10:42:49 <lunk> gnucash in 10.10 doesn't seem to have an xml output
10:43:10 <warlord> 2.2.9 is *only* xml
10:44:15 <warlord> If you saved 2.4.x into something other than XML then 2.2 definitely wouldn't be able to read it.
10:46:43 <lunk> it's definitely a binary format when i look at the raw data, 2.2.9
10:49:25 <warlord> Yes, it is compressed.
10:49:27 <warlord> but it's still xml.
10:49:32 <warlord> (gzipped xml)
10:51:22 <lunk> oh is that it?
10:51:27 <lunk> let me see
10:53:22 <lunk> it most definitely is, awesome
10:53:26 <warlord> :)
10:53:53 <lunk> i had a feeling i shouldn't freak out, but didn't have time to get to the bottom of it during the week
10:54:09 <lunk> thanks
10:54:46 <warlord> you're welcome.

16:39:52 <gour1> it looks opencalc is better for importing GC-exported reports than gnumeric ? (which is pity since we just started with light usage of gnumeric which we'd prefer over bloated libre/openoffice

21:25:45 <Phil> Hello, I see 42 users, 3@, 0% and o+. What does the '@', "%' and '+' indicate?
21:26:57 <Phil> My real question is: I imported all accounts, payee, and categories from Quicken, but I see none in Gnucash. What's with that?
21:28:16 *** ErKa has quit IRC
21:29:13 <Phil> BTW, I did not import transactions as I want to start anew with no transactions.

21:54:18 <Phil> I just looked at the log, and it appears that not much is going on, even with all these users "present". Considering it is Sat. night, people may just not be logging off. I'll check back later, but leave the channel open. Also, I'm on an Intel Mac with 10.7.3 and GnuCash 2.4.10.

22:13:40 <warlord> figures I missed you by 10 minutes, phil. If you read the logs... the QIF importer only imports transactions. You cannot "import" accounts, payees, etc.
