12:38:18 <strk> the resulting .pdf is very small

12:43:42 <warlord> thank you, slidesinger1
12:43:44 <warlord> er, jsled
12:43:57 <warlord> strk: export? or print?
12:44:01 <warlord> what OS/Distro?
12:44:59 <strk> print
12:45:05 <strk> gnu/linux (ubuntu 8.10)
12:45:13 <strk> maybe export is better
12:45:20 <warlord> Export gives you HTML..
12:45:21 <strk> it'd be better to be copy/pastable
12:45:29 <strk> and not truncate all the numbers
12:45:34 <warlord> Print to PDF.... It's worked for me. What version of GnuCash?
12:45:44 <strk> and if "Other" wasn't sooo big of a number
12:45:49 <strk> 2.2.9
12:45:54 <strk> I guess I'll try again tomorrow
12:46:58 <warlord> Oh, I haven't used 2.2 in a long time. And I dont use Ubuntu.
12:53:59 <warlord> It could be a font issue?

13:01:52 <strk> could be
13:02:02 <strk> git pull - Already up-to-date.
13:02:04 <strk> oh-oh
13:02:12 <strk> I guess I don't have the correct source code repository url
13:02:31 <strk> git://github.com/timabell/gnucash-svn.git
13:04:04 <warlord> Um, no, that would definitely not be correct.
13:04:19 <warlord> That would be some random person's random gnucash copy.

13:42:15 <AlexStacey__> Hi, I've got a gnucash file with about 3 years worth of bookkeeping in it, but I want to split it into financial years - is it possible to do that within gnucash or should I be looking at a 3rd party app (like the jGnucashEditor thing) - any thoughts on that? thanks

13:50:49 <AlexStacey__> oops - lost connection
13:51:28 *** ErKa has joined #gnucash
13:52:27 <AlexStacey__> The reason I ask the above question is that I want to make it as easy as possible for my accountant - part 2 of my question is: If I create a Transaction Report for the financial year then save the Gnucash file, if my accountant opens it, will the Transaction Report automatically open?
13:53:24 *** ErKa has joined #gnucash
13:57:47 <warlord> AlexStacey__: Report status is not a part of the data file; it's stored in a secondary metadata file. So if you open a report and then just ship your .gnucash file to an accountant they will not see it.
13:58:15 <warlord> HOWEVER, why not just run the report and then export it (as HTML) and send *that* to your accountant? That's what I do -- I send them a Balance Sheet, P&L, and Txn Report.
13:58:16 <AlexStacey__> warlord: ah ok
13:59:56 <AlexStacey__> that sounds like a good option actually

14:00:40 <AlexStacey__> The only reason I want to split the file up is to make it easy for them but that might be the best solution. Thanks for your input warlord

22:08:01 <rsimoes> Hi, I just downloaded gnucash over the weekend and like it a lot. Are there any opportunities to contribute to the SQL data modeling? I was wanting to dump a large body of data into the program but noticed it wasn't going to handle it too well.
22:08:50 <jsled> contribute in what way?
22:08:57 <jsled> I'm pretty sure the model is the model, at this point.
22:09:16 <rsimoes> Perhaps at least some indexing on columns, then?
22:09:24 <rsimoes> There are only primary keys
22:09:40 *** warlord-afk is now known as warlord
22:09:45 <warlord> patches are always welcome.
22:10:03 <warlord> I recommend you email to gnucash-devel asking specific questions. Or you can look into bugzilla and find bugs to fix.
22:10:18 <rsimoes> Okay, groovy. I'll study up on the source for a few days and try to come up with something of value to submit
22:10:38 <rsimoes> Ah, okay. Is that a list?
22:10:41 <warlord> All the key code is in C
22:10:48 <warlord> gnucash-devel? yes, email list.
