15:37:33 <wavydavy> I cheated FrozenZia. I downloaded the source, and as a dumb user (non-root) I configured with a prefix of /home/wavydavy/gnucash, then make, make install

17:54:44 <FrozenZi1> That, of course, ended up giving me 2.2.9, but I'll be happy with it for the time being until I think I have the patience to try and tackle the manual compilation and install from source with (e.g.) the 2.4.2 version.
