02:44:21 <Anthony> Is there a way to enable a report, like "Income/expense chart", to account for future scheduled transactions.
02:47:01 <Anthony> Also, is there a way for my account balances to show my actually balance, without regard to the soonest scheduled transaction, which has yet to occur.

03:02:18 <confused1> I'm a Mac OS X user, I would love to use Postgresql as my backend. Is there a binary installation that has this functionality enabled?
03:06:48 <confused1> If not, is there a document that will walk me through getting a compilation of GnuCash that will have the ability to talk to my Postgres database. This functionality sounds awesome -- but challenging for a non-developer to implement. Thank you for your help, in advance.
03:16:57 <Anthony> I cannot answer that, others can. I'm curious about your reason/s for this.
03:25:48 <confused1> I've used GnuCash for several years now. It's just for my personal finances. I'm a bit of a computer nerd and I think it would be cool to store the data in a Postgres database rather than the flat file. It would be nice to be able to access the database from my laptop and my desktop without maintaining separate copies of the file.
03:28:23 <confused1> Thank you for your help.

05:14:41 <Zelroy> I have version 2.4.0 on Windows. How do I change gnucash startup language?

05:27:56 <fell> Zelroy: or http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/FAQ#Q:_I_want_to_use_GnuCash_in_my_own_language
05:30:40 <Zelroy> I tried that, but it no longer worked on 2.4.0
05:32:46 <Zelroy> My Windows is in English but the locale is set to Finland and I get an awful mess of two languages...
05:35:53 <fell> Hm, I do not use Windows.

07:53:00 <warlord> Anthony: for your second question, you can enable the "present value" column, or the "cleared balance" column, depending on which you want (today's date v. cleared balances)

09:25:42 <gour> prospect having mobilegnc for android, brings me to evaluate gnc once again (over simpleinvoices). has something changed in regard to skills required to customize invoices' look in gnc (aka: can one do it without guile skills)?

09:26:49 <warlord> jsled, linas: could one of you op gncbot, please?
09:30:19 <gour> is eguile way to customize invoices' look in 3.4.x?
09:31:49 <gour> i mean in 2.4.x :-)
09:38:32 *** linas sets mode: +o gncbot

09:51:54 <gour> how one customize numbering for invoices to e.g. start with certain pattern at the beginning of a new year?
09:52:14 <warlord> invoice #s are numeric.
09:52:20 <warlord> There is no way to reset the starting # in the UI
09:53:03 <warlord> And there is no way to set an alpha-numeric invoice string
09:55:21 <gour> what if one requires to have a specific series for each year, e.g. 2010-xxx, then 2011-xxx. it is not possible?

10:47:54 <warlord> gour: Not in that form, no. What government requires that?
10:48:24 <warlord> You could certainly make one of the form 2011xxx (or 2011xxxx), but not 2011-xxx
10:48:35 <warlord> You'd have to hand-modify the data file to reset the invoice #
10:48:42 <warlord> There is no way in the UI to set the starting #

11:49:39 <Anthony> warlord, i realized the difference between clearing and reconciling. I created my scheduled transactions 335 days in advanced and then cleared them. They now show in my report.
11:50:50 <Anthony> Coming from ms money and quicken, I never knew the purpose or difference between the two.
