00:42:16 <Reese1872> i'm making sub-account for my main income account... is there some way to change the credited income account for an invoice, AFTER its been posted and paid?
00:42:39 <Reese1872> i would unpost then re-post and re-pay it I guess but I'm afraid I'll screw up the data... so i'd rather see if i can just change it first
01:47:23 <Karen_m> in maverick, when i go to add a new job, and hit enter without highlighting the job, gnucash crashes. If i double click the new job I posted under 'find' ... it works...
01:47:27 <Karen_m> ubuntu maverick 10.10

08:56:57 <warlord> Reese1872: No, the only way to change the account(s) is to unpost, change, and re-post. You may or may not have to delete and re-pay.

09:52:08 <bobs> ? - import QFX has started to fail - maybe too long line - web search implies that too long lines was fixed a "long" time ago
09:52:43 <bobs> 2.3.14
09:56:07 <warlord> bobs: what OS/Distro?

10:34:53 <bobs> Win 7, 64
10:35:35 <warlord> Oh, no idea about Windows. And no clue if it's been fixed in the 2.2.x code, or in the version of AqB windows uses.
10:35:36 <bobs> vi'ed file frm bank and line is very long, but probable < 4096
10:35:48 <warlord> I suspect line limit is 1024
10:35:52 <warlord> But don't know for sure
10:36:27 <bobs> did hand job on transactions, will look harder next month - thanks
10:36:41 *** fbond has joined #gnucash
10:36:52 <warlord> I suspect this will get fixed when we release 2.4.0
10:36:56 <warlord> (but not sure)
10:36:59 <bobs> will put new lines where XML can be broken
10:37:59 <bobs> ETA on 2.4 ? - have been happy with 2.3.xxx, but home user and do not exercise many features
10:38:37 <warlord> When it's ready
10:38:37 * lupine_85 is running the latercode for the joy of sql
10:38:53 <lupine_85> it doesn't have to be stable for home use :_)
10:38:55 <bobs> ;)
10:38:59 <warlord> lupine_85: just be careful; there have been many data integrity issues with the SQL code
10:39:07 <lupine_85> I'm not surprised
10:39:16 <lupine_85> this is what backups are for, of course
10:39:19 <warlord> So I would not recommend it for primary data storae.
10:39:31 <warlord> backups dont matter if the data never makes it into the database
10:40:13 <lupine_85> I'm not too worried about blatant fails like that
10:40:28 <lupine_85> it's the more subtle issues that one needs to watch out for
10:41:17 <warlord> It's not blatent. Gnucash gives no indication that the data wasn't saved.
10:41:42 <lupine_85> it's a blatant fail
10:42:02 <lupine_85> if it makes you feel better, I can keep an eye on the SQL transaction logs
10:42:58 * warlord shrugs
10:43:03 <warlord> It's your data at risk.
10:43:09 <lupine_85> yep :)

12:02:58 <Matthew> I am working on getting gnucash setup to help with my new small business. I created a custom stylesheet that includes a logo and header to make invoices look pretty. I also want to customize the invoice report to not show tax and have a closing message. How do I make these settings default so it's that way every time I print a new invoice?
12:03:52 <warlord> You can't. Just leave your customized invoice tab open and after you post an invoice select the tab, go into the report options, and select your invoice.
12:04:57 <Matthew> so I have to select my custom invoice every time a I print a report?
12:05:47 <Matthew> sorry, I misunderstood. I think I see what you mean
12:09:48 <Matthew> That will work. Thanks for the help, and sorry for my confusion.
12:10:31 <warlord> That's okay.
12:10:33 <warlord> Happy to help.

12:20:33 <Matthew> I'm not understanding how jobs work. I read that I can use a job to group multiple invoices together... but could some one give me an example of why/when I would do that? (I'm new to account software in general)

13:22:28 <warlord> Matthew: I see little reason to do it.
13:22:55 <warlord> The original concept was that you might have multiple contracts for the same customer and would want to lump stuff together based on the contract (job)
13:23:42 <Matthew> ok, that makes sense. thanks again. :)
13:23:47 <warlord> you're welcome.

16:47:17 <warlord> Hm, I think it's a bug that was fixed in 2.3.x and will be fixed in 2.4.0.
16:48:25 <Karen_m> ubuntu needs to update then :)
16:49:02 <warlord> Once 2.4.0 is released, sure. 2.3.x are test releases.
