08:20:42 <cort> i'm writing a script to convert some ad-hoc CSV data from zopa.co.uk to OFX for import into Gnucash
08:21:54 <cort> if I add bank account informatino to each transaction, and use a <payee> aggregate rather than just using <name> for each <stmttrn>, will the import logic remember which accounts I selected for import for each of the transactions, so I don't have to specify them each time I run the import?

08:49:42 <cort> currently i'm hoping that the importer will be smart enough to associate "capital payment from XYZ" "interest payment from XYZ" "disbursment to XYZ" (where XYZ is variable) with the assets:lent out and income:loan interest accounts automatically, and hence i won't have to bother
09:02:01 *** warlord-afk is now known as warlord
09:02:44 <warlord> cort: if you turn on bayesian matching, it should notice that 'captial', 'interest', and 'disbursement' go to accounts X, Y, and Z

11:53:17 <c3l> is it a bad idea to have too many accounts? for example under expenses:hobbies, also having foo, bar etc for each place you bouth hobbie stuff from. or to specify things like that in the description?

14:11:54 <c3l> what would be the recommended way to use gnucash on several computers, using the same set of accounts and keeping it synced?
14:16:07 <c3l> to make it more fun, some of the computers will not always have internet access. and I dislike running around with important data on a usb-stick. How will a gnucash work with a DVCS, lets say I make some chanegs on two different local branches and then merge them. how will that work out?
14:19:41 <c3l> I guess if its all textfiles if will work fine, but im not very good at this, so input from others is always appreciated
14:24:55 <cort> c3l: you could merge changes in in theory, but IME the order of items in data files is not perfectly stable, so you get a lot of noise in the diffs
14:25:08 <c3l> okay, its not text files.. so how can I sync them nicelyb
14:25:08 <cort> i think you should just pick a server, and rsync/unison/etc to/from it
14:25:23 <cort> or use something like dropbox if you don't have your own server and don't mind your data living on the internet
14:27:19 <c3l> I can just mount my htpc with sshfs and then open gnucash I guess. requiring me to be connected to internet, but I guess Ill be that most of the time anyways
14:29:00 <c3l> in that case I dont have to send the files back an forth, well it will be done in the background automatically. well I guess thats solved, thanks :)
