03:07:55 <kimmo> can't be done
03:09:26 <Exiles> danm, I'm gonna have to do these 2000 entries by hand then
03:18:42 <kimmo> for that many entries, if you have a programming knack, you might want to look at the unencrypted save file (it's XML)
03:19:30 <Exiles> was hoping ctrl + select then once i had 50-100 or such set them to right type at once

06:12:35 <lupine_85> Exiles: it'd be nice, wouldn't it?
06:12:44 <lupine_85> wonder how hard it'd be to add
06:20:30 *** warlord has quit IRC
06:38:23 <Exiles> no clue
06:38:57 <Exiles> I haven't done any programing on that level for ages moreso working with mcu's

08:21:06 <jsled> Exiles: the QIF ("qnf"?) importer keep track of which descriptions map to which accounts, and auto-fill it on future imports. But only on future imports, not the current import.
08:21:47 <jsled> So, import one file at a time, and hopefully it should do much of the heavy lifting.
08:21:58 <jsled> If you only have one big file, you might need to split it up into chunks.
08:22:05 <jsled> There's no multi-transaction operations.
08:42:38 <kimmo> I figure a multi transaction thingy would be way complicated for it to be suitable for common uses, and even the common use cases are kind of rare to come by, except in migrating to/from gnucash in the middle of the year

14:45:41 <midnightmonster> I followed the wiki ubuntu build instructions, and I have svn trunk successfully running, built with sqlite and webkit support. only problem: all the account names and descriptions are in some language I don't recognize and can't read
14:45:47 <midnightmonster> rest of the UI is English
14:46:09 <midnightmonster> what can I do to get these in English?
14:48:35 <jsled> midnightmonster: http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/FAQ#Q:_I_want_to_use_GnuCash_in_my_own_language isn't quite your question, but should have pointers in the right direction for you
14:49:26 *** Askarii has left #gnucash
14:58:43 <midnightmonster> jsled, rebuilding locales and explicitly setting them doesn't seem to have helped at all. the rest of the UI is English as expected.
15:00:00 <jsled> did you create your datafile in another locale?
15:03:26 <midnightmonster> creating a new data file is what I'm trying to do
15:03:37 <midnightmonster> my old one loads with the account names as I left them
15:04:12 <midnightmonster> my current attempted workaround is to create the file in 2.2, then load it in 2.3 and save-as it as a sqlite file
15:05:49 <midnightmonster> so far, that seems to work
15:06:04 <jsled> is it really in another language? Or some sort of encoding/charset problem/mojibake?
15:06:17 <midnightmonster> it's definitely another language
15:07:50 <midnightmonster> I can read bits of French, Spanish, and Latin, and this is definitely a human language and not some charset garble.
15:08:02 <midnightmonster> (though I have no idea what a mojibake is)
15:09:10 <jsled> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mojibake
15:10:14 <midnightmonster> heh--my bit of vernacular for today
15:11:08 <jsled> :)

15:13:59 <jsled> what's `env` return?
15:14:02 <jsled> and `locale -a` ?

15:19:13 <midnightmonster> identifiable and ssh/keyring-related lines redacted from env
15:19:18 <midnightmonster> but otherwise that's it
15:20:48 <jsled> weird
15:21:39 <midnightmonster> quite. I have an acceptable workaround for now, though. the file I created in 2.2 has normal account names
