11:18:58 <net_tux> is there a way to convert an existing XML data file to sql to be used with the new dbi backend stuff?
11:24:05 <jsled> I believe it's just File > Open (xml), File > Save As… (into db)
11:25:05 <net_tux> jsled: thanks - I was looking all through the preferences and stuff and missed the obvious
11:26:37 <net_tux> jsled: worked perfectly

16:26:02 <MartinVW> Hi. I'm versioning my gnucash folder with bzr, and I'd like to add a changelog to each commit that lists all transactions that were added/modified since the last commit. At the moment I'm doing this by manually copypasting new entries from the journal into a text file and then piping this text file into a Perl script, but that's cumbersome and does not work too well. Any suggestions on how I could improve this? I looked into the scheme repo

16:36:01 <warlord> MartinVW: use the .log file?
16:37:01 <jsled> MartinVW: process the results of `bzr diff`?
16:39:39 <MartinVW> OK, I'll look into the log files first. Didn't consider them before writing the Perl script because they look complicated too :)

18:15:30 <MartinVW> Hm... can someone point me to documentation for the log format? I'm not really finding useful results with google.
18:21:17 <jsled> there is none, I'm pretty sure.
18:21:21 <jsled> besides the code, of course.
18:26:51 <MartinVW> Thought so; I already found the necessary information in the code: http://code.neil.williamsleesmill.me.uk/gnome2/group__TransLog.html#ga2
18:30:28 <jsled> why do you want to re-iterate all the transactions in the commit log message, anyways?

19:02:39 <MartinVW> hmm... for the first few commits I just left the log blank, but I had a conflict not too long ago (I gnucash use several computers) and I found it rather irritating not to know which commit contained what transactions. And as the file format is binary, I can't diff it either.
19:02:55 <MartinVW> *I use gnucash on several computers
19:09:45 <jsled> the file format is xml
19:10:09 <jsled> that's optionally gzip compressed.
19:12:02 <jsled> unless you're using the 2.3/2.4 series with the DB backend.
