10:00:16 <tothmunstr> hello hello!
10:02:02 <tothmunstr> Could anyone shed some light on why my "Account Summary" does not show my assets? (I have USD and GDB under Assets)
10:03:36 *** ErKa has quit IRC
10:04:23 <tothmunstr> or to be more specific: they are showing up in their respective sub-columns, but the absolute total is still 0.00
10:05:10 <tothmunstr> also the GBP account looks like this: GBP 100.00 USD 0.00
10:05:42 <tothmunstr> and I have automatic exchange-rate enabled and everything else is looking good as far as I can tell

13:34:33 <ZeiP> How can I start GnuCash with Finnish localization, when I use another language for all other apps?
13:39:33 <cortana> 'LANG=fi_FI gnucash' ?

16:03:02 <ZeiP> zeip@paddy:~$ LANG=fi_FI gnucash
16:03:03 <ZeiP> gnc.bin-Message: main: binreloc relocation support was disabled at configure time.
16:03:15 <ZeiP> cortana, does this mean that the locale change somehow failed?
16:04:32 <cortana> no, that's a normal message that you can ignore
16:04:45 <cortana> if that doesn't give you finnish then try running 'locale -a' to see what locales are avaialble on your system
16:08:10 <ZeiP> Hmmh
16:08:18 <ZeiP> I wonder if there actually is a Finnish locale for it :D
16:08:20 <ZeiP> Well, thanks.

18:25:13 <warlord> blizgerg: Rounding error? Is it off by $0.01?
18:26:08 <warlord> ZeiP: There is an fi.po file, so yes.
18:26:18 <warlord> Do you have the Finnish locale installed on your machine?
18:26:32 <warlord> (do other GTK apps appear in finnish?)
18:27:33 <ZeiP> Yes
18:27:47 <ZeiP> No, but that's mostly because I use locale en_IE.utf8
18:28:05 <ZeiP> GnuCash is the only software I want to run in Finnish :)
18:28:39 <warlord> ZeiP: sure, but does any other gtk app work in finnish?
18:29:59 <warlord> Here's another question: What OS/Distro do you run?
18:30:51 <ZeiP> LANG="fi_FI.utf8" gedit
18:30:57 <ZeiP> Gedit launches in English.
18:31:01 <ZeiP> Ubuntu 10.04
18:31:36 <warlord> ZeiP: sounds like you dont have the fi locale installed.
18:33:05 <ZeiP> It's selected in System => Administration => Language support
18:33:27 <ZeiP> "Finnish: Translations, Spellchecking and writing aids"
18:35:36 <warlord> Try: LANG=fi_FI.utf8 LANGUAGE=fi_FI.utf8 gedit
18:35:44 <warlord> Or perhaps fi_FI.UTF-8
18:41:00 *** daedeloth has quit IRC
18:41:25 <warlord> I dont use UB, so I dont know the magic incantation to make sure a locale is installed.
18:45:41 *** rocky has joined #gnucash
18:47:30 <rocky> any multi-currency users up and about? trying to figure out how to handle invoice payments that are submitted in USD but end up in a CAD bank account
18:52:00 <cortana> dpkg-reconfigure locales ZeiP :)
18:54:50 <warlord> rocky: you need an intermediary account. All invoice transactions must be on the same currency.
18:55:19 <warlord> So you would need to Process Payment into a USD account and then manually transfer into a CAD account so you can supply the exchange rate.
18:56:01 <rocky> warlord, right, that's kind of what i was thinking, now of course the problem is still slightly complicated because not all the bank transfer fees are obvious so i lose additional unaccounted funds during the transfer so the exchange rate wont' match up
18:58:40 <warlord> rocky: Well, that's why you shouldn't use the exchange rate per-se, but rather enter in the actual exchange you received (which includes all fees)
19:01:29 <rocky> warlord, ok looks like that will work
19:03:33 <warlord> :)
19:06:26 <rocky> thanks :)
19:06:59 <warlord> you're welcome
19:09:26 <ZeiP> warlord, yeah, LANGUAGE did it, thanks
