00:02:18 <warlord> Note that this is why you need to determine your CC balance as of T0.. Anything on the CC (payments or charges) prior to T0 don't need to be included.
00:02:37 <warlord> Only stuff AFTER T0 needs to be included. Payments and charges.
00:02:55 <warlord> So if you sent in a check on Dec 31 you don't need to included it if T0 is Jan 1
00:03:13 <warlord> (assuming you take the check into account in the bank balance as of Jan 1)
00:03:53 <mnkyboy> cc statement is from Jan 21 to Feb 21, the balance as of Jane 21 was $200, balance as of Feb 21 is $400, a payment was made on Jan 24 for $200, i am entering my checking and savings account as of 3/1, the payment of $200 on Jan 24 is in my imported statment. When add the CC account, i made the beginning balance $400 with a date of March 1
00:04:26 <mnkyboy> so i should delete the payment transaction on Jan 24th, correct?
00:04:36 <warlord> Yes
00:04:59 <warlord> Did you have any txns between 2/21 and 3/1?
00:05:38 <mnkyboy> yes, but thats going to be on the next bill
00:07:27 <warlord> Doesn't matter... You should record the transactions when they occur... NOt when you get the bill.
00:07:28 <mnkyboy> so i entered a starting balance of $400 for 2/21, now the cc account balance is $800, all txns between Jan 21 and Feb 21, plus the starting balance on Feb 21...
00:08:04 <mnkyboy> im still tring to get the hang of double entry
00:08:10 <warlord> Okay.... so T0 is 2/21??
00:09:23 <mnkyboy> sorry, is t0 the starting date?
00:10:22 <warlord> yes
00:10:28 <warlord> T0.. Time0.. Time Zero
00:11:17 <mnkyboy> i think i know what to do, 1/22 should be T0, starting balance = $0, then when i import the statement, delete the payment of $200 on 1/24
00:12:39 <warlord> if you say so...
00:12:48 <warlord> FWIW, I don't use importing at all..
00:12:51 <warlord> I enter everything by hand.
00:12:56 <mnkyboy> that doesnt sound right?
00:12:57 <warlord> and then reconcile when I get the statement
00:13:19 <mnkyboy> i normally enter everything by hand, but its easier to import when first setting up gnucash
00:15:36 <warlord> I respectfully disagree.
00:15:47 <warlord> But you're the one entering the data
00:16:58 <mnkyboy> what should the T0 be and starting balance? sorry, im trying to understand
00:18:16 <warlord> It all depends on you.
00:18:23 <warlord> Me, I made T0 be Jan 1
00:19:52 <warlord> The starting values were all the balances as on Jan 1 -- but I personally did not include certain "enroute" transactions. For example, I wrote a check on e.g. Dec 29th which hadn't cleared yet... So I "back-dated" my bank starting balance and included the check.. So when it DID clear the bank it would reconcile.
00:20:08 <mnkyboy> i see
00:20:37 <warlord> Anyways, I need to head to bed. Good night. And good luck.

00:20:40 <mnkyboy> the reason im using 1/21 as my T0 is thats the date my ex and I split accounts
00:20:49 <mnkyboy> thanks for the insight warlord

09:59:08 <warlord> @tell JesseW um, go through the open bugs and try to triage/reproduce them? Go through all the features in the UI and try to use them and report bugs when they don't work?
09:59:08 <gncbot> warlord: The operation succeeded.
09:59:39 <warlord> Rolf: I'm about to head out... Hopefully jsled can get to it. If it's not done by the time I get to california then I'll do it tomorrow.

10:29:49 <gour> does guile-1.9 breaks gnucash or, considering that gnucash supports only 1.8, some stuff simply cannot be used?
10:30:09 <gour> *break
10:32:48 <gour> hmm, probably gnucash cannot build against it
