09:12:59 <kenvandine> hello everyone
09:13:21 <kenvandine> is there a way to convert an equity account to an asset account?
09:14:08 <kenvandine> i created my checking account as an equity account a year ago, and now realize when i want to import data from my bank i did it wrong
09:14:19 <kenvandine> so all the funds out are funds in... etc
09:14:27 <kenvandine> is there a way to convert it?
09:40:52 <cort> you should be able to change the account type if you do 'edit account'
09:41:29 <kenvandine> yeah, i did that
09:41:37 <kenvandine> but now the amounts are reverse
09:41:40 <cort> ok
09:41:43 <kenvandine> deposits are -
09:41:49 <kenvandine> and expenses are +
09:42:03 <cort> hm, i'm not sure what to do about that
09:43:01 <kenvandine> yeah... tough :/
09:43:17 <cort> someone else may be able to help though :)
09:44:25 <kenvandine> i hope :)
09:44:27 <kenvandine> thx though

10:17:26 <harlanwebber> I am trying to get a MS Money qif extract to be read by GNUCash.
10:17:48 <harlanwebber> I have exported around 20 QIF files and all but the final one work.
10:19:18 <harlanwebber> It is around 20 times bigger than the others of course, 2000 to 30000 transactions. I have been wtrying to find anything that would cause qif not to be read
10:20:26 <harlanwebber> Things like special characters in the memo field, such as removing $ and £ and # etc, I just am not sure what kinds of things to look for..
10:24:34 <harlanwebber> At first I got an eror on a line, I fixed it, a special character in the memo field... then ever since that it just says "A bug was detected while reading the QIF file." No further help or advice.
10:26:17 <harlanwebber> My QIF file does have split transactions like my paycheck, and my loan, principal interest is split, and other things... but I want to repair what is causing the problem in the order an expert would, why redo lots of transaction that work... Also, I am not sure if there is a log file to say where the qif file has a problem

14:01:06 <bonez2046> is it possible to have gnucash run on my linux box, but then remotely connect to the linux box from win xp .. to enter transactions?

15:16:41 <delaman> bonez2046: yes
15:18:40 <jsled> bonez2046: you'll need an x server for windows … or maybe an nx or vnc or rdesktop solution
15:19:45 <delaman> cant he setup a mysql database with gnucash and connect to it from the windows machine?
15:24:12 <jsled> I suppose, but … I'm not sure if that's what ey's asking, and I'm not sure if gnucash does anything to enforced serialized access to the database, in that scenario.

16:05:32 <delaman> Does 'Ctrl+R' do anything when using MySQL ? It appears that 'Ctrl+R' does not "refresh" while using MySQL.
16:05:49 <delaman> im using 2.3.10
16:06:18 <warlord> I dont think Ctl-R does anything in any context...
16:08:35 <delaman> warlord: so if im adding transactions from many differenet computers via MySQL how can I "update" a given computer without restarting gnucash ?
16:09:19 <jsled> delaman: restart it.
16:09:32 <jsled> delaman: multiple concurrent instances aren't supported
16:11:29 <delaman> :( kk
16:23:29 <warlord> Yeah, gnucash doesnt support concurrent write access
16:23:40 <warlord> One one user at a time.
16:51:57 <bonez2046> jsled: do you use nx for this? has it been pretty effective?
16:52:13 <bonez2046> jsled: I assume this is like a citrix remote session that one sets up?
16:56:16 <warlord> bonez2046: you could use vnc?
16:59:17 <bonez2046> ok..
16:59:18 <bonez2046> this would be on my local LAN though..
16:59:18 <bonez2046> I'd like to run gnucash on my linux server downstairs, but have my wife and boys access their accounts on this installation from elsewhere in the house
