09:26:05 <muczy> hi
09:26:24 <muczy> how can I add custom tax % to an account?
09:29:25 <warlord> Accounts dont hold taxes.
09:29:49 <warlord> What are you trying to do?
09:31:00 <muczy> hi warlord :)
09:31:22 <muczy> i would like to assign custom % tax to an account, which will be "auto-calculated"
09:32:19 <warlord> GnuCash has no such functionality.
09:32:40 <muczy> i see
09:33:19 <muczy> then what does Edit -> Tax options do?
09:33:50 <warlord> reports on tax-related items for a TXF report.
09:34:05 <warlord> But you have to split the taxes out manually, and right now AFAIK it's only tied to US Taxes.
09:34:14 <muczy> yep
09:34:59 <muczy> ok, thanks

09:35:55 <warlord> closest thing to what you want might be the tax tables for the business objects, but they only apply to Invoices and Bills..
09:36:41 <muczy> yep
09:36:53 <muczy> then i have to write a custom report i think
09:40:39 <warlord> Considering I still have no idea what you're trying to do, I have no way to respond.

09:50:27 <muczy> warlord: i have many accounts and some of them have 25% tax (or vat) and i have to print out the sum of the taxes
09:53:50 <warlord> Yeah, unless you split the VAT/Tax out manually there's no good way to do that right now... You could write a report, but of course you would have to keep the Account->tax% mapping somewhere.
09:58:14 <muczy> fortunately there are only two cases: an account has 25% vat or 0% vat
09:58:33 <warlord> That makes it easier...
09:59:15 <muczy> but now i have to write about 4 accountnames in the report which have 0% vat
09:59:20 <muczy> and those are fixed
09:59:28 <muczy> so the end user can't change them easily
10:10:25 <warlord> Use an account chooser option with the defaults you want/need/

15:21:58 <hoban> hello everyone
15:22:49 <hoban> I'm new to gnucash and would like to use it for my wife's small business (her + a partner...no other employees). Are there any good guides that could walk her through how gnucash can be used to track the company's finances?
15:24:11 <warlord> Have you tried the GnuCash Tutorial and Concepts Guide?
15:24:43 <hoban> warlord: I have not. Where can I find them?
15:24:55 <warlord> Online..
15:24:59 <warlord> www.gnucash.org
15:25:05 <hoban> warlord: I'll go look through those. thanks!

16:24:10 <leitz> gnucash 2.2.9, is there a way to have a multi-month budget without having to enter the budget amount in every month? That is, if I budget $25.00 for X in Jan, Feb, and Mar, can I enter it once and have it carry through?
16:27:55 <warlord> i dont think so, but i'm definitely not the budget expert.
