00:08:18 <bleubarrie> Hi all, I guess my question should be, how do I use lots to track stock sales? I can't find anything in the docs about it, except developer conversations like this one: http://osdir.com/ml/gnome.apps.gnucash.devel/2002-05/msg00133.html
00:09:33 <bleubarrie> in there, he mentions one of the things I'm concerned about: knowing when an invoice is paid in full (I would like, for example, to show a "balance forward" on the next invoice I send to the customer because they only partially paid the prior invoice)
00:10:06 <bleubarrie> the other thing i'm concerned about is stock (or stock option) sales and tracking various lots that have various buy/strike prices.
02:23:39 *** warlord-afk is now known as warlord
02:23:56 <warlord> lenscape: It's called a "Pre-Payment", and GnuCash will just use it to apply to future invoices.
02:24:44 <warlord> bleubarrie: Run a Customer Report and it will show that.

08:33:12 <JimRaehl2> I tried running /c/soft/packaging/dist.sh in Windows XP this morning. I don't know if that can be run idependently of the nightly build script, but got what looks like a path error:

08:44:16 <warlord> did you run it from the correct CWD?
08:45:09 <warlord> Take a look at packaging/win32/build_package.sh
08:45:21 <warlord> That's what we run on the build server every night.
08:45:45 <warlord> ( and CWD is the 'packaging/win32' directory )
08:54:31 <JimRaehl2> Ah, so there is more than just running dist.sh. I'll check it out this evening, when I get back from work. Thanks.

09:08:46 <MechtiIde> I tried gnucash. I want to use HBCI via aqbanking and found to very bad bugs
09:09:50 <MechtiIde> In the dialog for creating the HBCI account you can't print. The CPU shows 100 % and after some minutes it crashes
09:10:31 <warlord> Yes, you need to run install.sh first.
09:10:43 <MechtiIde> Now I have to call to the Bank administrator to reset my account
09:10:53 <MechtiIde> ?????
09:11:01 <MechtiIde> where?
09:11:05 <warlord> MechtiIde: that wasn't to you. What version of GnuCash are you using?
09:11:26 <MechtiIde> mom
09:11:36 <MechtiIde> 2.2.6
09:12:39 <warlord> 2.2.9 is current. You should update.
09:12:57 <warlord> Also, the HBCI Wizard belongs to AqBanking. If you have a problem with it you'll need to contact them.
09:13:17 <MechtiIde> I use the version from my distri
09:13:29 <MechtiIde> does aqbanking also have an IRC channel
09:13:54 <warlord> Maybe on Freenode?
09:14:12 <warlord> Complain to your distro that they've got a bloody old version.
09:14:16 <MechtiIde> I will look there
09:14:43 <MechtiIde> it seems to be the same problem as of OpenOffice.org
09:14:46 <MechtiIde> :)
09:15:34 <MechtiIde> on freenode there isn't one
09:17:36 <MechtiIde> warlord, do you know that this was a problem in the elder gnucash version?
09:18:12 <warlord> I know there are problems in 2.2.6. I have no idea about HBCI. That's a German-only thing.
09:21:04 <MechtiIde> ok
09:21:22 <MechtiIde> does someone else here have an idea
09:21:24 <MechtiIde> ??
09:23:54 <warlord> I recommend you ask on the gnucash-de mailing list. There you'll find GNUCASH/HBCI experts.
09:25:22 <MechtiIde> thanks
09:25:47 *** MechtiIde has quit IRC
09:33:46 <JimRaehl2> I think I figured out the dist.sh "path" problem. The missing file wasn't there, because I specified AQBANKING_WITH_QT=no and dist.sh assumes yes. Now, do I really want to setup AQBANKING or try to hack dist.sh -- decisions, decisions.
09:38:09 <warlord> I would recommend you just deal with AqB. It works on the build server so it really shouldn't be that hard to do.
09:38:21 <warlord> Seriously, why are you doing anything different than what;s on the build server?
09:38:36 <warlord> (config-wise -- I understand why you want to build on your own)
09:46:34 <JimRaehl2> I have a couple mods that suit me. 1 -- I added a few entries to the register action pulldown lists, so old-fumble-fingers doesn't have to do a lot of typing. 2 -- I implemented a primitive register Notes (and other text fields) one-line scroll up/down for text that has LF (0x0a) characters in it, so I can do minor editing of text that wouldn't otherwise be in the window. One of the niceties of open-source.
09:47:02 <JimRaehl2> Off to work now. CU later.
09:48:05 <warlord> why not send those upstream?

17:07:01 <bleubarrie> warlord: thanks! I applied the next prepayment and it seems to have generated a split. Is this the automatic lot behavior I read about? How is this applied in stock transactions, or how can I do it manually if that's what you meant by the automatic lot functionality being disabled?

23:42:09 <brun0_|laptop> hi
23:42:15 <brun0_|laptop> I can't find the answer to the following question in the manual : my accounts are in USD but I have an account in EUR. So all the entries in that account are in EUR. But each time I add a transfer to an account category the exchange rate is 1.00 with USD. How can I set this exchange rate automatically for every transfer I do from this EUR asset account to categories?
