12:27:31 *** warlord-afk is now known as warlord
12:28:08 <warlord> phil: it ran, but failed.. couldn't copy /c/soft/pgsql/??/* (I forget if the ?? was bin or lib).. Manually re-running and it's working fine.
12:28:16 *** warlord is now known as warlord-afk
12:31:52 <phil> I think I checked that change in around 12:10 EDT
12:37:04 *** warlord-afk is now known as warlord
12:37:17 <warlord> 12:10pm EDT today? Or 12:10am EDT (12 hours ago)?
12:46:49 <phil> 12 hours ago.
12:47:02 <phil> When does the daily build kick off?
12:47:12 <warlord> 2am EDT
12:47:17 <warlord> BUt it still broke.
12:47:26 <phil> Interesting...
12:47:27 <warlord> But re-running it now seems to have worked.
12:47:42 <warlord> ... and it was just uploaded.
12:48:10 <phil> I want to wait until all 3 dbi backends are available on win32 before I release 2.3.2.
12:49:28 <phil> the mysql/pgsql backends, in particular, need more exposure
12:52:20 <warlord> ok.
12:52:31 <warlord> I wish I knew why my trap didn't work
12:54:02 <phil> For 2.3.2, for example, someone requested the split query be rewritten because the way I had it worked on pgsql, but slowly. I've been working with the sqlite3 backend for my main data for a while now, so the basic SQL stuff works, but per-engine customization is still needed.
12:54:42 <warlord> ok
12:54:51 <phil> For 2.6, I think we need to redo queries - the qof/engine/backend split in how queries works is clumsy and prevents the backend from doing some useful stuff.
12:55:31 <phil> For a balance sheet report, for example, there's no reason to load all of the splits when the db engine can easily SUM(value) for a subset of splits.
12:55:36 <warlord> sure.... basing gnucash more closely on sql would be good..
12:55:49 <phil> And, would be a lot of rework
12:56:06 <warlord> and having file -> new file ask for a file name would be good too.
13:15:36 *** lenscape has joined #gnucash
13:16:10 <lenscape> how do I get something like a trial balance?
13:16:37 <lenscape> I need a report that summarises each account between specific dates
13:16:40 <warlord> run the trial balance report
13:17:16 <lenscape> ah! I was expecting it to be a 'business' option.
13:17:53 <lenscape> warlord: thanks
13:18:31 <phil> what do you mean 'between specific dates'/
13:18:48 <lenscape> transactions between year start and year end
13:19:27 <phil> an income/expense report may be what you want. a trial balance or balance sheet will show balance on a certain date
13:22:37 <lenscape> I'll explore them. Thanks
13:23:51 <warlord> maybe the income statement
13:30:40 <lenscape> warlord: yep. That looks good too. I'll send him all of these. Cheers
13:51:04 <JimRaehl2> I downloaded the new r18173 Windows Gnucash build a few minutes ago. It started with a new error that I hadn't seen before: "The ordinal 284 could not be located in the dynamic link library SSLEAY32.dll" then started okay.
13:52:59 <phil> yes. i know. the problem is that there isn't really a downloadable/installable pgsql client library.
13:53:16 <phil> we could download and install the complete server, buti don't want to do that.
13:53:42 <phil> i copied ssleay32.dll from my windows pgsql installation, andnow it needs libeay32.dll
13:54:08 <phil> i'll need to do some trial and error to figure out what libraries we need to include, then rebuild the pgsql-win32 zip file
13:54:29 <JimRaehl2> I C -- thanks for the enlightenment.
14:00:34 *** hvx_ has quit IRC
14:04:53 <phil> for postgres on windows, i'll need to include; ssleay32.dll, libeay32.dll, libintl3.dll libiconv2.dll, krb5-32.dll, k5sprt32.dll, gssapi32.dll and comerr32.dll

14:19:36 <JimRaehl2> If I run the Gnucash executable with --debug parameter, where does the debug output appear. Haven't found it yet. Is there anything else that needs to be done, to make the debug output appear.

14:22:11 <phil> in /tmp on mingw, look for gnucash.trace.xxxxxx where xxxxxx is 6 hex-digits
14:23:14 <CrazyIvan> just installed GNU Cash 2.2.9 on a Win32 (XP sp3) system - Fresh Install.. Everytime I try to start the program is crashes or won't run.. Any ideas what might be the issue??
14:24:00 <JimRaehl2> phil: thanks.
14:24:02 <phil> do you see the splash screen/

16:27:34 <phil> "those pgsql things"? :)
16:28:35 <phil> I've updated the pgsql-win32.tar.gz which contains include files/libs. You will need to remove downloads/pgsql-win32.tar.gz so that it will download the new version. You will need to remove the pgsql directory so that install.sh will rebuild it with the new stuff.

22:45:51 <Jimraehl> I found xaccOpenLog in src/engine/translog.c. Looks to me like adding the filename to the error message would be very useful, more than the famously cryptic Unix error 1 messages.
