00:09:37 <warlord> still, excellent.

03:04:19 <Jimraehl> Bug 585812 has been added to the database, suggesting that CSV import dates not be restricted to ISO format. A more general CSV date separator import would be to allow all of the separator characters specified in preferences.

04:00:44 <Jimraehl> Should I be able to open an XAC file directly with File/Open? I'm getting a crash, starting with the message "The server at URL sqlite3://C:\mc7\GNUCash\Gnucash test.20090615004337.xac experienced an error or encountered bad or corrupt data." This is under Windows 2000, using the build labelled "This copy was built from svn r18131 on 2009-06-14."
04:17:17 <Jimraehl> Is there an easy way to tell whether your Gnucash 2.3.1 database is Sqlite3 or XML? It seems the only way is to change a transaaction and see if "Save" is then enabled, or see if XAC files are generated. Neither method would be obvious to someone who is new to Gnucash.
04:18:54 <Jimraehl> For now, it seems that testing swapping your database between XML and Squlite3 is really tough. Not easy to tell which you currently have, crash while opening XAC files, and not able to save-as to XML.

08:35:39 <warlord> @tell Jimraehl Yes, you should be able to open an XAC file directly. It's looking like it's an issue between Win32 paths and 'url' paths. You should file a critical bug.
08:35:39 <gncbot> warlord: The operation succeeded.
08:36:07 <warlord> @tell Jimraehl No, there is not an easy way to tell (from GnuCash) whether a database is SQLite or XML. You can tell from outside by running "file" against it.

22:00:47 <Jimraehl> Oops. New connection resulted in the replies being sent.
22:01:41 <warlord> not oops at all.. I told gncbot to send them to you next time you showed up.
22:10:56 <Jimraehl> Has anyone reported difficulty with a Num field specifcation in CSV imports resulting in that field from the CSV file not showing up in the Num field of the register entry for that import? I think I've only had one successful CSV file import showing the Num fields from the data. All other times, there was nothing in the register Num field. Strangely, the one successful file had been hand edited to remove the quotes around the numbers, but
22:10:57 <Jimraehl> further similar attempts to do that were not successful.
22:11:26 <Jimraehl> Here is one example line from a CSV file from my bank:
22:11:32 <Jimraehl> 11/03/2008,-7.00,"CHECK # 2781 - UTAH SYMPHONY","2781",
22:11:48 <warlord> Which CSV-based import?
22:12:03 <warlord> Through the HBCI-based CSV? Or the gnucash native CSV?
22:12:55 *** twunder has joined #gnucash
22:13:43 <Jimraehl> Gnucash native, using File > Import > Import CSV/Fixed-Width
22:14:32 <Jimraehl> I didn't know there was an HCBI CSV import
22:14:48 <warlord> Yeah, AqB has a CSV import
22:14:52 <warlord> the gnucash one is very broken.
22:16:04 <Jimraehl> Thanks for the heads-up on HCBI. I have a couple more bug reports to file on CSV, so I should mention native in the reports.
22:20:05 <warlord> Yep. Make sure the bugs arent already there.
22:20:16 <warlord> Unfortunately the CSV importer was from GSoC '07

22:24:05 <Jimraehl> BTW where in the source path is the code for the native importer.
22:24:16 <warlord> src/import-export/csv ?
22:25:17 <Jimraehl> Thanks. I'll look tomorrow when I have more time. It's past my bedtime now.
22:26:28 <warlord> What timezone are you in?
22:28:51 <Jimraehl> US Mountain (8:28 PM) but I'm recovering from a heart attack and need lots of sleep, plus I have to get up by 5:30 or so.
22:30:59 <Jimraehl> Lights going off now.
22:32:53 <warlord> I was wondering why you were up at 3am.
22:33:01 <warlord> Me, I'm recovering from being hit by a car.
22:33:05 <warlord> (you win there)
