17:16:17 <dan> Hi everyone, I want to try and fix some bugs. How do I know what to focus on and what hasn't been assigned to anything?
17:18:45 <jsled> dan: it's probably fair to assume that any given bug is not being worked on by anyone else.
17:18:59 <jsled> you can get a sense of what's being done where by looking at commit traffic and the mailing list.
17:19:24 *** esperegu has quit IRC
17:21:04 <dan> okay thanks
17:22:02 <jsled> Wow. I was going to guess at having over 600 bugs, but the number's actually 754.
17:22:37 <dan> Well looks like I'll have a lot to choose from. Do you know what the svn build dependencies are?
17:22:42 <dan> Or what they are for?
17:23:25 <jsled> The top of <http://sources.gentoo.org/viewcvs.py/gentoo-x86/app-office/gnucash/gnucash-2.2.7.ebuild?view=markup> has a nicely-readable list of dependencies.
17:23:42 <jsled> What os/distro are you using?
17:24:20 <dan> Ubuntu 8.04, I am currently installing the dependencies on this page http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/BuildGutsy
17:25:01 <dan> I'm waiting for the first list to install before I try and install intltool and swig for svn
17:25:04 <jsled> Ah, yeah, then "sudo apt-get build-dep gnucash" should get 90% of the work done.
17:26:16 <jsled> hmm. That enumerated list at the top of the page is a bit weird. I wonder what the overlap with 'apt-get build-dep gnucash' is.
17:26:30 <dan> oh ya, sounds easier, I have installed gnucash from apt-get but I wanted a build version running that I will fix bugs on and such
17:26:40 * jsled nods
17:26:43 <jsled> (bias)
17:27:45 <warlord> yeah, 'apt-get build-dep gnucash' will install all the build dependencies to build the gnucash package from source.
17:27:55 <warlord> Then you'll need a few additional packages to build from SVN
17:28:13 <dan> okay, what are those packages?
17:30:21 <warlord> auto tools, swig
17:30:24 <warlord> not sure what else.
17:30:44 <dan> okay thanks
17:32:27 *** |gunni| has quit IRC
17:38:51 <warlord> try it and see if configure complains?
17:39:13 <dan> yup I'm giving it a shot
17:39:16 <dan> after dinner though
17:39:25 <dan> I'll probably be back then
17:39:29 <dan> thanks for the tips

23:31:07 <jdrake> How can I setup an original balance? I am importing a series of account histories starting at the oldest (18 months), but the balances are of course off because there is no initial balance.
