07:00:12 <stenico> Hi - was wondering if anyone here knows how to edit multiple transactions? I just imported 5 years of .OFX statements and want to save some time... thanks!
07:01:13 <stenico> that is I would like for example to use find to find all my cash withdrawals, select them all and change them to the same asset:wallet account...

07:50:06 <warlord> stenico: There's not a good way to do that in OFX. A better way: Turn on Bayesian Matching, then Import a small part and go through each one assinging a proper account.
07:50:19 <warlord> Then on subsequent imports the importer will remember the match.
08:06:27 <stenico> @warlord: Aha! I knew there must have been some solution to this problem in gnucash :-) Thankyou, you've just saved me _a lot_ of time!

13:36:56 <Mick> Hi All, I'm trying out Gnucash - but don't know how if there's a way of replacing the default US tax with UK tax pages. Is there a way of doing this, other than manually creating?
13:46:44 <Mick> Another thing that has me puzzled, on v2.2.7 the expenses entry schedule won't save configured settings. I want to set it monthly, but when I re-open it I see that it has returned back to daily frequency. Is this a bug?

18:48:11 <Xedecimal> so far I've found out that msmoney uses yodlee for washington mutual online banking
18:48:29 <Xedecimal> and yodlee seems to support quite a few banks, is there a way to aggregate yodlee much like microsoft money does it?
18:53:26 <Xedecimal> actually, after going through yodlee, screw gnucash, this is awesome! I can even track my reward points in this thing!

22:30:30 <mfwitten> Hello. I've read in the design document that in "US Dollars, the smallest currency unit is [one] cent, and all monetary transactions must be done in [whole] units of cents. Therefore, any fractional cents in a computed price must be rounded away." However, I do not understand why this is *necessary*.
22:30:40 <mfwitten> It seems like it would be quite useful to deal with fractions of cents.
22:31:22 <mfwitten> Say I buy something for $8.99 that I split in half with somebody; I want to record that I am owed $4.495 (yes, I'm that picky!)
22:32:43 <mfwitten> Maybe the next time I buy and split another $8.99 widget and then I'm owed $8.99
22:33:32 <mfwitten> In any case, my models and logic are and examples are no doubt wrong. Please disabuse me.
22:35:09 *** warlord-afk is now known as warlord
22:37:07 <warlord> mfwitten: You can assign an account to use a smaller-than-usual commodity-scu.
22:37:38 <mfwitten> warlord: I thought I had read that somewhere, but then I was troubled when I couldn't find the docs again.
22:37:40 <warlord> However you would need to make sure both sides of the txn do that.. And your default currency could be hard because there are too many places that it doesn't check the account SCU
22:38:43 <mfwitten> "it doesn't check" = "GNUCash doesn't check?"
22:39:07 *** Zoolooc has quit IRC
22:39:07 <mfwitten> Couldn't this be updated, or is it too complicated?
22:40:01 *** Zoolooc has joined #gnucash
22:40:36 <mfwitten> How about adding an infinite precision currency?
22:47:22 <warlord> How the SCUs get checked are very complicated.
22:47:36 <warlord> You could do that -- just create a commodity.
22:47:42 <warlord> Treat it like a stock.
22:56:47 <mfwitten> OK. I'll look into that.... though it's starting to sound like I should just not worry about the lost cent...
23:00:11 <warlord> I would just not worry about the lost cent.
23:15:53 <kdienes> hey, long time no see
23:17:20 <warlord> hey klee
23:17:31 <warlord> still in alabama?

23:20:01 <warlord> welcome back home
23:20:21 <kdienes> thanks!
23:20:29 <kdienes> the unit up here is totally awesome, too
23:20:36 <warlord> how long will you be in nh?

23:22:47 <warlord> hmmm...
23:22:49 <warlord> THAT could work
23:23:09 <kdienes> I'm up for anything.
23:23:16 <warlord> (I'm only home for 3 weeks between now and the end of the year)
23:23:24 <kdienes> That's quite the travel schedule!
23:24:22 <warlord> Indeed.
23:24:32 <warlord> You should see my Dopplr
23:25:09 <kdienes> all these crazy new websites I've never heard of

23:26:28 <warlord> go for it
23:26:37 <kdienes> are the subversion / wiki servers known broken?
23:26:43 <kdienes> or am I missing some key memo
23:26:56 <kdienes> I was gonna tune up those lot changes to the new top-of-tree
23:27:58 <warlord> Machine is up for me.
23:28:13 <warlord> What happens when you try?
23:28:28 <warlord> (maybe your IP is blocked -- if you attempted an ssh connection it could block you)

23:31:40 <kdienes> or do you just block all DHCP addresses?
23:31:41 <warlord> Your IP pissed off 'swatch'
23:32:05 <warlord> but probably an older user of your address.. I dont see it in the recent list. (the system does not auto-unblock)
23:32:34 <warlord> Anyways, is it working now?
23:33:10 <kdienes> much better!
23:33:14 <warlord> :)
23:33:29 <kdienes> appreciate the help; i now bask in SVN update goodness
23:33:43 <warlord> :)
23:33:49 <warlord> Happy to help.
23:33:53 <kdienes> appreciate it
23:34:09 <kdienes> now to see how many hours it takes to get the build dependencies working
23:34:14 <warlord> One of these days I should look at an auto-unblock system so I dont need to wait for someone to notice and ask.
23:34:21 <warlord> what distro?
23:34:21 <kdienes> who came up with the idea for all this scheme crap, anyway?
23:34:24 <kdienes> (ducks)
23:34:34 <kdienes> debian / amd64
23:34:42 <warlord> Umm.. previous generation of devs, none of whom are still around.

23:37:16 <warlord> Hahahahaha
23:37:22 <warlord> I'll leave you to your hacking, then
23:37:36 <kdienes> apparently i have an underquoted definition of AM_PATH_SNACC
23:37:50 <kdienes> oh my
23:37:54 <kdienes> truly i have missed autoconf
23:38:13 <warlord> Fun, isn't it?
23:51:15 <kdienes> wow, build is a lot smoother now, even from a separate build directory
23:54:29 <warlord> good to know
