02:03:47 <postal> Hello, I was wondering if someone could help me out, please?
02:04:48 <postal> I've just downloaded gnucash, but every time I try to modify a transaction's linked account it says "You need to expand the transaction in order to modify its exchange rates."
02:06:17 <postal> Googling brought up something to do with attempting to use multiple currencies: I've previously changed the prefs (default currency) to AUD instead of US$, but all accounts appear to be in AUD.
02:22:00 <postal> Strange, sometimes changing it bank to the original account, saving, then back again works. Sometimes not
02:28:45 <postal> Just worked out how to "expand" the transaction (View>transaction journal), and modifying it here works, but still a mystery why it didn't work in the normal view.
02:46:53 <postal> Not sure if I should mention: the original data was imported from a .qif file from the bank

16:14:25 <frost> for quite some months/years gnucash startup, probably report generation, has been incredibly slow for me. I noticed this thread: https://lists.gnucash.org/pipermail/gnucash-user/2007-September/021869.html . Might anyone know more about this? I'd like to help fix this performance issue; it makes gnucash quite painful for me :).
16:28:46 <Ozaed> frost, do you have a huge XML file? maybe this is why gnucash takes it time, should get better with the new DBI backend...

16:39:25 <frost> Ozaed: my XML file, uncompressed, is 2MB (54k lins)
16:41:49 <Ozaed> sounds not too demanding, maybe it's the report generator as you say...

17:27:49 <bookie28> Looking for help with an invoice date issue. New user here. In adding some recent invoices to GnuCash, no matter what date I put in the date opened or date posted, it is reverting to 08/01/08. While editing, individual lines will allow the correct date, and when paying it will allow the correct date, but the opening and posting dates always show 08/01/08. This causes my invoice account to look very funny.
17:36:57 <bookie28> Would also like to know if there's anyway to set some defaults for invoices. For example, we do not invoices for either hours or material... I'd like for it to default to project without having to use the pull down menu. Any help would be greatly appreciated. leslie@prosltd.com
17:38:48 <bookie28> BTW... To any of the gurus here who helped write this program, there are some companies who would love the opportunity to pay for support. ;)
17:42:49 <Ozaed> on a saturday evening / night good support is hard to find, even if you are willing to pay for ;)
17:53:22 <ben_goodger> quite
17:53:34 <ben_goodger> I think my company would like the ability to do proper final accounts also
18:01:13 <Ozaed> right. 31st
18:01:57 <ben_goodger> hm?
18:02:24 <Ozaed> end of month?
18:02:47 <ben_goodger> oh yes.
18:03:07 <ben_goodger> in CEST, at least
18:03:25 <ben_goodger> and east of that...

21:25:19 <fell> Hi, I just watched, http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/FAQ is referencing http://www.gnucash.org/docs/v1.8/C/gnucash-help/help.html and wanted fix that, but ...
21:27:34 <fell> shouldn't we have in docs a link like current / latest now pointing to v2.0 and later change that instead of dozen links in the wiki?
21:29:12 <andi5> what if the behavior changes from version to version?
21:30:22 <fell> may be a few links would break, but not all
21:30:47 <andi5> is there a link that broke?
21:31:38 <fell> the FAQ is referencing 1.8-help - a little outdated.
21:33:33 <andi5> surely... actually, what i want to avoid is pointing to specific documentation of a feature which may be removed or changed completely from version to version... that way you would really create broken links, 404-wise, semantically or even both.... having a stable-> link for a small set of defined pages like the topic one might work
21:34:16 <andi5> even both is kind of funny :)

21:36:48 <fell> at least the general advice in FAQ and De/FAQ etc. should point to the latest stable version,
21:37:07 <andi5> can you edit that page?
21:37:50 <fell> In wiki I can, but not in /docs/
21:37:51 *** Jimraehl has joined #gnucash
21:42:57 <andi5> i could try... "stable" or "current"?
21:44:13 <fell> current, I think, as docs is stable - usualy I read svn/docs.
21:44:51 <andi5> Permission denied :-D
21:45:48 <fell> Oo, then jsled or warlord has to do the job.
21:46:02 <andi5> right
22:16:24 <Jimraehl> Register question: while in a checking window, is it possible to have more than one line for the memo field, maybe a popup window (Windows 2000)?

23:57:35 <fell> andi5, I just read your last posting. Do you think, we could get http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=526313 in 2.2.7?
