05:21:56 <merc> Does anybody here know how the "profit" bit is calculated at the bottom of GNUCash?
05:22:11 <merc> It tells me -5912, but the company actually has a profit of 9000
05:28:16 <merc> Nope?

06:42:23 <warlord> merc: I believe it's a calculation of A-L for the current calendar year in individual currencies.
06:42:43 <warlord> But I honestly dont know how that number is calculated.
06:43:26 <warlord> Or maybe Assets is A-L and Profits is I-Ex?

07:01:04 <Rommedahl> I have calculated my earnings from my emplyer the upcoming months but I wonder if I should insert them as a normal transaktion but with the upcoming pay out days. Or should I have it as schduled transactions with only one transaction each (there are different ammounts) och should I budget it?
07:03:15 <warlord> in the end you'll want to have 1 txn per pay period.
07:03:26 <warlord> Whether you accomplish that via auto-complete or SX is up to you.
07:04:06 <warlord> gotta run

08:42:34 <Rommedahl> thanks. what is the most common soultion when it comes to upcomming transactions?
08:44:09 <jsled> it really depends on how you want to do it. If you want to get a good view of the impact of the forward looking transactions (via reporting or whatever), then you need to create them in advance.
08:44:26 <jsled> (meaning, the reports don't take into account "unrealized" future SXes)
08:49:05 <Rommedahl> Okej. Thanks =)

19:08:23 <fell> about my question yesterday: cstim told me in https://lists.gnucash.org/pipermail/gnucash-de/2008-August/006306.html
19:09:43 <fell> that the currency conversion druid was in 1.6 only. http://svn.gnucash.org/trac/changeset/6284
19:13:28 *** donfede has quit IRC
19:16:08 <warlord> fell: I thought it made it into 1.8 as well.
19:17:21 <fell> no, the structure of currency changed with 1.8
19:17:49 <warlord> oh right, there was that major change, too.
19:19:49 <fell> there are not so much commits in http://svn.gnucash.org/trac/log/gnucash/branches/1.6/src/gnome
19:20:02 <fell> but it is no cherry picking
19:23:32 <warlord> Well, keep in mind that we were using cvs back then, so it's possible that the cvs2svn conversion "missed" some stuff from back then.
19:25:19 <fell> if next time our new members ask for that feature, you can put them on that changeset as starting point.
19:30:04 <warlord> Or you could respond to the recent email thread with that URL...
19:30:15 <warlord> You might as well take the credit for finding that changeset.
19:31:24 <fell> I had only the idea, where to ask. cstim had the work ;)
19:32:07 <warlord> Still...
19:33:31 <fell> But, you're right, I will reanswer that posting.
19:34:01 <warlord> :)

23:14:53 <dbreiser> jcarter: fink has gnucash 2.2.6, and it's even in stable. Do a fink selfupdate and look for gnucash2 again
23:16:23 <dbreiser> jcarter: if that doesn't work, see if you are stuck on point update method. Usually doing 'fink selfupdate-rsync' or 'fink selfupdate-cvs' should kick you into a better update mode
23:16:51 <dbreiser> oops. fink stable only has 2.2.5, unstable has 2.2.6
23:19:43 <dbreiser> one of the fink lists or irc channel would get you a faster response if you still have problems
