2008-05-16 GnuCash IRC logs
00:02:31 <dbreiser> I think so
00:03:02 <dbreiser> at least fink is getting pretty close to releasing the modern gnome libraries
00:03:16 <warlord> Thhat would be nice.
00:03:27 <warlord> Only... what? 2 years late
00:03:28 <warlord> ?
00:03:32 <dbreiser> at least
00:04:38 <dbreiser> the blessing and curse of fink -- they don't blow anything out of the water with arbitrary library upgrades, but then the cairo upgrade requires about 200 packages to be done at once
00:05:10 <warlord> yeah, well. sometimes you just need a flag day.
00:05:19 <dbreiser> there are now about 5 of the main devs who are doing nothing but testing the overhauled set
00:05:21 <warlord> You CAN have multiple packages at once.
00:05:54 <dbreiser> yes, but the cairo stuff was convoluted enough to cause problems with that
00:06:22 <dbreiser> we have zillions of old libs, but cairo wouldn't play nice
00:07:07 <dbreiser> I've even committed a new slib that doesn't conflict with 2d6 so I don't have to try to get g-wrap 1.3.4 to work with slib 3b1
00:07:08 <warlord> DAMN YOU, CAIRO!!! ;)
00:07:32 <warlord> Why do you care about g-wrap anymore? gnucash doesn't use it.
00:07:42 <warlord> Just drop gnucash 1.8
00:07:43 <dbreiser> fink cares
00:07:53 <dbreiser> probably should
00:08:51 <warlord> why? I say drop it. it's old and unsupported.
00:08:54 <dbreiser> I'm using the gnome 2.20 bump as an excuse to make everyone using fink gnucash2 to switch to guile 1.8
00:08:59 <warlord> there's no reason to conitnue supporting it.
00:09:45 <dbreiser> there isn't a compelling reason to pull it, since I can let it stagnate while still keeping 2 current
00:10:19 <dbreiser> I had someone complaining about 2.0.2 (the last version we posted for os x 10.3) today!
00:10:31 <warlord> 2.0.2 is still gnucash2
00:10:45 <warlord> (even if it's WAY broken)
00:10:53 <warlord> ... and should be upgraded to 2.0.5
00:10:58 <dbreiser> it's missing an -lz somewhere. And I can't get my tower to boot 10.3
00:11:19 <dbreiser> I might be able to make it even more current if I can get at a 10.3 machine to test
00:11:33 <warlord> I only have 10.4
00:12:05 <dbreiser> I have 10.0 and everything up to 10.5.2, but I ditched most of my really old hardware last fall
00:12:34 <warlord> too bad you cant run osx in vmware.
00:12:54 <dbreiser> the oldest running machine will boot 10.3, but I don't have a partition to put it on. :(

00:14:22 <dbreiser> I wonder if I have an old drive I can install in the old tower. might work. depends on how vigilant I was cleaning out the closet.
00:14:48 <warlord> heh

16:17:44 <Elfan> Is the information for creating custom reports at http://wiki.gnucash.org/wiki/Custom_Reports still accurate for 2.2.x?
16:19:37 <warlord> yes
16:25:42 <Elfan> I am having trouble defining a new module from a user account. I copied a report from the install directory, changed it's name/description and added it to config.user. However, I do not see it when I restart gnucash. Is there a way to debug what is going on when config.user is loaded?
16:28:26 <warlord> Did you change the GUID?
16:28:43 <warlord> (I forget if GUIDs were added to 2.2 or not)
16:28:54 <warlord> How did you "add it to config.user"?
16:30:17 <Elfan> I created config.user with the line: (load-from-path "~/prog/gnucash/inflation_net.scm")
16:30:30 <Elfan> I don't know anything about GUIDs
16:30:53 <warlord> "~" isn't valid
16:36:55 <Elfan> Does it have to be an absolute path?
16:37:15 <warlord> Yes
16:37:44 <warlord> load-from-path requires an absolute path. Or a relative path. but it wont resolve '~'
16:38:24 <Elfan> Okay that works, thank you
16:39:49 <warlord> you're welcome.
