00:08:27 *** cdmwebs has joined #gnucash
00:09:38 <cdmwebs> hey all, can I get some help compiling on leopard?
00:12:42 <warlord> depends on what kind of help you need
00:15:25 <cdmwebs> yeah, i guess
00:15:53 <cdmwebs> it's dying on gettext
00:16:06 <cdmwebs> checking for a valid gettext/gmsgfmt installation... no
00:16:06 <cdmwebs> configure: error: Cannot find Glib Gettext. Maybe you need to install the gettext package?
00:16:40 <cdmwebs> macports gettext is installed
00:17:24 <cdmwebs> it died on guile before this
00:17:43 <cdmwebs> i had to symlink guile16* to guile* in /opt/local
00:19:17 <warlord> oh, you're using macports??
00:19:30 <warlord> Last I heard macports gnucash was in disarray
00:19:37 <warlord> ... and that you're better off buildinf from fink
00:20:20 <cdmwebs> yeah
00:20:37 <cdmwebs> well, gnucash is svn trunk
00:20:49 <cdmwebs> here's the config.log
00:20:50 <cdmwebs> http://pastie.org/182782
00:21:07 <warlord> do you have glib-gettext?
00:21:11 <warlord> check your path..
00:21:55 <cdmwebs> port installed | grep gettext gettext @0.17_3 (active) p5-locale-gettext @1.05_0 (active)
00:22:21 <cdmwebs> i have gettext - is it the same?
00:24:25 <warlord> no
00:25:08 <warlord> glib-gettextize (at least for me) is in the glib2-devel package.
00:25:15 <cdmwebs> k
00:26:10 <warlord> (not that I'm on Fedora Linux, not Mac)
00:26:42 <warlord> Did you "sudo port install gnucash" to make sure you have all the deps installed?
00:28:17 <cdmwebs> yeah, i tried from the wiki a few weeks ago and again tonight
00:28:47 <warlord> How does "port install gnucash" fail?
00:28:58 <cdmwebs> i should probably just rm /opt and start over at this point
00:29:17 <cdmwebs> dunno, porting glib2-devel right now
00:29:32 <cdmwebs> i'll check in a sec
00:29:51 <warlord> glib2-devel is a port?
00:30:08 <cdmwebs> yeah
00:30:23 <warlord> REALLY?!? wow. weird.
00:30:27 <cdmwebs> http://trac.macports.org/projects/macports/browser/trunk/dports/devel/glib2-devel
00:30:32 <warlord> I would've thought it would've just been part of "glib2"
00:30:52 <warlord> Still.. honestly... unless you're a port maintainer I suspect fink will be easier for you.
00:31:41 <cdmwebs> totally not a port maintainer
00:32:10 <warlord> Then go with fink. or "port install gnucash" which should pull in all your deps
00:32:44 <cdmwebs> porting gnucash 2.2.4
00:33:26 <warlord> ok..
00:34:37 <cdmwebs> i've used gnucash for a while on debian/ubuntu
00:35:12 <cdmwebs> trying to switch to the mac so i dont have to run parallels..
00:35:21 <warlord> ok
00:35:32 <cdmwebs> it's good stuff
00:39:42 <warlord> :)
00:47:15 <cdmwebs> hmmm
00:47:27 <cdmwebs> now gconftool-2
00:47:47 <warlord> "port install gnucash" failed with gconftool-2?
00:48:25 <cdmwebs> yeah
00:48:27 <cdmwebs> hang on
00:48:29 <cdmwebs> ill paste
00:49:13 <cdmwebs> http://pastie.org/182786
00:49:50 <warlord> How did you install glib?
00:49:59 <warlord> Looks like a version mismatch or something.
00:50:00 <cdmwebs> port, im sure
00:50:11 <warlord> By yourself? Or by gnucash's port?
00:50:46 <cdmwebs> hard telling at this point
00:50:48 <cdmwebs> lol
00:50:52 <warlord> Honestly... It sounds like your whole ports system is screwed up. I'd rm -rf /opt, port selfupdate (or whatever the selfupdate command is)... and then "port install gnucash" and let it pull in everything.
00:51:08 <cdmwebs> yeah, let me give it a shot
00:51:27 <cdmwebs> thanks for the help!
00:51:42 <warlord> you're welcome

18:01:10 <winkerbean> Maybe I'm just dense. But I'm trying to find the documentation which will explain to me how to set up an investment account I hold with my broker so as to automatically retrieve investment information (splits, price rises, prices drops, dividends, etc.) Can anyone point me in the direction of such info?
